Job Description - Lead Business Analyst
Role Purpose
The Lead Business Analyst will be responsible for leading an assigned workstream or business area. Involved in analysing the processes of the business, leading requirements workshops, recognising and documenting changes and improvements, and converting them into business designs, user stories and related acceptance criteria. Ideal candidate to have very good knowledge of insurance in London Market space, especially in the post bind processing area.
Key Responsibilities :
- Operate as a bridge between the Business Stakeholders and Project technical teams
- Supports the Programme and Project Managers with the creation of business cases, project proposals, project initiation and detailed functional specifications (epics, user stories, wireframes etc.)
- Uses knowledge of London Market and post bind space to help conceptualize and detail the solution, identify key differentiators, and value propositions
- Understanding, clarification and documentation of the existing business process, interactions with technical solutions and data flows
- Identification of areas of process inefficiency, solution deficiency and opportunity, advocation of continual process improvement and business process re-engineering
- Diagrammatic representation of solutions for executive, business and technical audiences including the development of workflows, swim lanes and other mapping techniques
- Specification of both functional and non-functional requirements, demonstrating a clear understanding of the impact on technical design and solution use and usability, especially with reference to the user experience and interface
- Design and documentation of user guides, reference / help sheets and knowledge base material, user test cases, scenarios, and plans
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent people skills, ability to build quality relationships across the organisation at all levels. Premium communication skills both written and verbal, ability to adjust the style to suit the audience varying by role (technical / business) and seniority.
- Clarity of thought, process, and logical approach. Structured and organised.
- Ability to lead sessions, ensuring contributions from all and illicit the required information. Experience collaborating with global teams, matrix organisations and the ability to influence without direct control or authority.
- Knowledge of the full software development cycle in an agile based development process.
- Exposure to a range of business process, business process re-engineering and "as-is" / "to-be" mapping tools and techniques. Good working experience on software lifecycle management tools like Jira, Azure DevOps. Familiarity with the standard suite of Microsoft Office products. Expert level with Word and PowerPoint, advanced with Excel and Visio.
Education and Professional Experience
- Solid experience working as a Lead Business Analyst within the Insurance Industry. Detailed and demonstrable understanding of underwriting functions. Experience in technology transformation programme and project environments, good Team player with proven ability to manage senior Stakeholders (C-Suite).
- Graduate/Postgraduate with a good academic background
- Preferred experience with a core Policy Administration platform implementation programme
KEY SKILLS
- 12+ years of experience in requirements gathering, requirement management, gap analysis
- Working experience as a process architect/business analyst
- Experienced in writing Use Cases and High Level Functional cum Technical analysis deliverables
- Experience in working with key business representatives, data owners, end users, application designers and data architects to model current & to be processes.
- Eye for detail and good documentation skills are needed
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal essential
- Strong ability to understand the steps of a process that lend itself to automation. Knowledge of key features of the automation product is needed.
- Advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
- Certification in Business Analysis
