Big data Scientist - Architecture to modelling.

Role & Responsibilities:

- Job involves proactively analysing external and internal InfoSec data sources for patterns and inconsistencies, in order to identify trends and relationships related to cyber-security threats (both emerging from external and internal).

Data Capture

- To develop new processes for analysing and evaluating threat activity

- In collaboration with department/functions, to develop and maintain databases and data systems necessary to perform complex security analytics and correlation.

- Acquire and abstract data from existing [and future] data sources. Collaborate with other stakeholders and develop/implement data collection and review for data quality.

- Maintain data repositories.

Data Analysis:

- Extract behavior patterns to distinguish between legitimate and illegitimate activities in the network.

- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data sets.

- To produce useful insightful and valuable information from various raw data sources.

- Perform basic statistical analyses for security projects and initiatives.

Data Reporting:

- Extract datasets for specific reports (routine and adhoc)

- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly & quarterly reports on observed trends and patterns.

- Develop graphs, reports, and presentations based on observation.

- Create management dashboards based on derived data collections.

Skills & Experience Required

- Prior experience of at least 4 years in business intelligence, security compliance, data analysis.

- A solid understanding of appropriate information security data sources.

- Experience in data mining techniques and procedures.

- Experience using statistical packages and familiarity with large datasets.

- Experience with extracting data, SQL queries, and producing analytics.

- Programing / Scripting experience will be added advantage.

- Strong data analytics skills to identify unexpected patterns and occurrences

- Creativity approach to problem solving.

- Professional integrity, discretion with respect to maintaining confidentiality

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate to technical and non-technical.

- Should be an independent contributor.

- Good interpersonal and communication skills.

- Job involves taking on challenges/timely deliveries/good coordination with stakeholders.
