Process Synopsis

The Core Analytics-MATLAB team creates claims reporting tools & provides non actuarial loss data analytics across a number of LOBS, predominantly Workers- Compensation. This is a 15 member team with a mix of skillsets that enable us to automate reports using advanced Excel features as well as VBA coding. We also support the actuaries by cleansing loss run data that they then use in their analysis. We create interactive models in Power BI that pull in data from data marts & make them available for use to the clients. We also create workflows in Lavastorm (an ETL tool) that help teams to automate tasks as needed. We also create actuarially sound models using MATLAB & R

- Creating dashboards using visualization tools (Power BI experience)

- Expertise in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) with good knowledge on SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)

- Advanced excel including VBA

- B.Com / Pursuing CII (added advantage)

- Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to read & comprehend information well

- Good analytical skills

- Able to work within a team to high standards in tight timelines

- Able to generate ideas or come up with logical solutions

- Led a team of people on delivering projects

Principal duties/responsibilities

- Understanding loss run (claims data)/placement data in terms of data availability for analytical reporting

- Questioning data shortfalls with respective counterpart as required for analytical reporting

- Cleanse the raw data as per SOPs

- Standardize the data sets so that they can be sliced/diced in any way required

- Use Power BI to create standard/bespoke models

- Using advanced excel features like slicers, nested formulae, macros to generate dynamic charts based on policy years and accordingly create macros to print those charts/graphs

- Create automated standard or customized templates to reduce manual errors as well as speed up the turnaround times

- Ensure ongoing, sustainable and dynamic relationships with stakeholders and manage their expectations

- Facilitate best practice sharing

- Manage projects & deliverables

- Conduct one-to-ones / appraisals
