The Head of Structural Engineering is responsible for leading the structural engineering department, overseeing design, analysis, and execution of structural projects.

This role ensures that all structural designs are safe, cost-effective, and compliant with industry standards and regulations.

The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and collaboration with multiple teams to deliver high-quality projects.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership & Department Management


- Lead and manage the structural engineering team, ensuring efficiency and technical excellence.


- Establish and maintain best practices, design standards, and quality control processes.


- Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.


Structural Design & Analysis


- Oversee the design and analysis of structures, ensuring safety, stability, and sustainability.


- Approve structural calculations, models, and drawings prepared by the team.


- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.


Project Management & Execution


- Work closely with project managers, architects, and construction teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.


- Review and approve project plans, specifications, and material selection.


- Conduct site visits to monitor structural integrity and provide technical guidance.


Risk Assessment & Problem-Solving


- Identify potential structural risks and propose effective solutions.


- Address technical challenges during the design and construction phases.


- Ensure structures are resilient to environmental and load-related stresses.


Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement


- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies.


- Provide technical expertise in meetings, presentations, and negotiations.


- Support business development teams in preparing proposals and bids for new projects.


Innovation & Continuous Improvement


- Stay updated on emerging technologies, materials, and design methodologies.


- Implement advancements in structural engineering, such as sustainable and cost-efficient solutions.


- Drive the adoption of digital tools like BIM (Building Information Modeling) and structural analysis software.


Qualifications & Skills


Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Masters preferred).

Experience: 12+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.


Technical Skills


- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, AutoCAD, Revit).


- Strong understanding of steel, concrete, and composite structures.


- Knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, Eurocodes, IS Codes).


Soft Skills


- Strong leadership, decision-making, and team management skills.


- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.


- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
