Manager - Metrics (Operational Excellence)
Essence of the job/ job purpose:
- Evaluates, recommends and implements strategies to enable initiatives that measures business performance. Responsibilities include working with various Operations, technology and shared services business units located across multiple geographies to enable continuous improvement of business performance by defining, collecting, collating and publishing key operating, engg performance metrics and comparisons with industry/bodies at regular intervals.
- Engages with business unit heads/managers and Publishes report to various business units, Presents and discusses report with group head and lob managers
Principal accountabilities:
- Responsible for managing a database reporting and analysis function. Evaluates, recommends and implements strategies to enable initiatives/projects that predict, improve and measure business success This requires a full understanding of business objectives and underlying drivers to embed them into data management processes.
- Responsibilities include working with various teams to define information needs and translating them into specific data requirements to support business initiatives and projects; determining the required capabilities, tools and data, leveraging/developing multiple internal or external information sources; managing and prioritizing multiple complex projects and project teams; and maintaining necessary processes, controls and procedures to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Responsible for complex client/partner assignments to identify and define strategic business issues requiring database analysis and translates this information into insight, knowledge and understanding of the business and the industry. Using multiple databases, performs complex analyses/analysis design involving data mining and predictive modeling, regression/multivariate, financial, and/or comparative analysis.
- Responsibilities also include collecting, analyzing and publishing trends, performance metrics, comparisons with industry etc of teams at regular intervals, identifying opportunities for additional statistical models and new approaches to analyze and forecast business performance, participating in and/or leading information capabilities development work; presenting results of analysis and recommendations to senior management. May directly manage analysts.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:
Qualifications - General / Academic Professional
Graduate Degree - MBA desirable
Experience in Years
- 12+ years in IT industry, 2 years experience in managing s/w Proj, CMM exposure.
Industry / Area - Information technology
- Any Other Experience in running a metrics service group engaged in reporting software engineering metrics, publishing baselines, benchmarking with industry, defining metrics and data collection mechanisms. Must have experience presenting / publishing reports to Sr Mgmt.
- Experience in collecting, collating, processing, analysis of utilization, defects,productivity, effort and schedule variances of projects, defect analysis, SLA/OLA trends, headcount, project status, risks, issues, compliance data and other metrics used in IT captives. Experience working with /dealing with Sr Mgmt. Good hands-on knowledge of databases, Tools including Proj Mgmt Tools knowledge
