VP - Traded Risk Engines - Market Risk (Senior Project Manager)
Purpose of the role : Programme/project management of one or more major projects within Traded Risk with specific focus on Market Risk engines including Tiger Scenario Engine.
To work with and support the key sponsors in Traded Risk and Risk Software Delivery to develop the business and system strategy to support the strategic direction of Market Risk and identify synergies with Traded Credit Risk.
The Risk Engines Programme covers the risk-owned strategic market and traded credit risk components with projects that span
- Bank wide initiative e.g. IMM
- Regulatory projects
- Strategic engineering/architecture initiatives
- Regional/Global traded risk driven initiatives
- scheduled PPCRs
Responsibilities: Core responsibilities include :
Management oversight of Market risk engines projects covering TSE, SummitVAR SophisVAR, VS and RAVEN AA.
Delivery of Traded Risk projects with an emphasis on market risk engines including oversight of analysis and where applicable project management in line with the traded risk/WMR portfolio priorities.
Ensuring that projects are delivered in line with Traded Risk expectations and global operating model.
Managing engines risk transformation resources in line with the systems and work closely with senior stakeholder across various functions.
Work with the Risk technology team (GRT) on integrated delivery plan.
Ensure that all projects and engines resources adhere to BTF
Work with WMR Methodology team, MRC CTB team and MRC business analysts to ensure the business requirements are understood and accurately translated into functional requirements by transformation team.
Working with business analysts and users, ensure the testing phases are adequately planned for and ensure all testing phases are co-ordinated with results documented and rigid issues tracking and test management carried out.
Ensure regular project status reports are provided with transparency and escalation of project level risks and issues.
Ensure the project management governance is carried out for component WG including project documentation (in line with BTF).
Ensuring that business and IT resources are adequately planned/aligned to support the book of work.
Review, report, resolve, mitigate and escalate risks and issues as appropriate.
Maintain strong communications among and between team members and senior stakeholders.
- Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
- Adhere to Internal Control Standards, the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with your role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Qualifications and Experience - Strong project management experience with multiple project oversight.
- In depth knowledge of large, global system infrastructure projects within either a business change or an IT capacity and good understanding of Information Technology trends, vendors and infrastructure.
- Experience introducing and implementing Project Management processes and standards.
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical abilities including the ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details and apply sound business and technical domain knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently, as well as work collaboratively with other teams, some of which may be geographically distributed.
- Proven and demonstrable track record managing and delivering projects in financial services - preferable Investment banking and Risk. Minimum of 5 years as a project manager
- The candidate will be ideally educated to degree level in a numerate subject.
- Have an in depth understanding of those factors affecting credit risk management, its systems, processes and functions. This includes;
Global Markets infrastructure, including trading systems and deal flows;
End to end processes relating to trade booking, market risk mgmt. limit monitoring and linkage to Finance and Product Control processes
Trade/market events and how they affect market risk measures
Market risk calculations including sensitivities, VAR and stress measures
Good understanding of Market Risk business processes
Exposure to CVA and CVA VAR calculations
- Experience using Clarity and Workbench, MQC. A good understanding of the core project management activities and including those defined under PMI and Prince.
