Job Title – VP Sales Finance

Business Area – Sales Finance and Markets reporting

Job Purpose –

Join the Sales Finance & Markets MI team, focusing on developing the business partnership with the global Distribution Sales and trading teams. The function is responsible for building and supporting the business’ reporting needs as well as ad hoc MIS requests within each region. It partners closely with the respective Business COOs to provide in-depth and business centric Value-Add MI analysis, to assist the business heads in identifying risks and opportunities, and help provide analytical support for strategic decision making.

As there is increasing focus on the extent in client channel contribution to underlying trading revenues, the function is also required to support the respective Trading COO community in all matters Sales Credits related, thereby requiring frequent collaboration and information sharing with Product Control.

The main performance metric adopted are Sales Credits (aka Sales Revenues), trading revenues, RWA and other key measures which are used to measure either team performance, or track the success of various client and product initiatives regionally or globally. The function is seen as the custodian of client channel reporting, hence, it also contributes to Executive Committee reporting in all regions and globally.

Accountabilities

- Protect the integrity of the revenue booked by understanding business centric practices and processes, and design/implement appropriate strategies that promote consistent and in-depth understanding/knowledge across the wider team.

- Identify and remediate any control gaps that will insure against delivery of a robust, accurate and timely reporting framework.

- Challenge the team on identifying and implementing best practices on report design, consistency and innovation, whilst continually promoting the efficiency agenda and making constant in-roads into establishing itself as a team of choice and excellence.

- Consistently look to build a network across the value chain (eg technology partners, Operations, other Finance areas etc) and to also promote the profile of the team across a newly established local management body.

- Embed a collaborative and effective operational framework globally with each of the regional Finance Client Face teams by employing effective communication strategies, ensuring expectations and resource management are set at appropriate levels.

- Continually review business and best practices with a Strategic lens and provide leadership to present these changes to stakeholders. Influence and negotiate with your partners and stakeholders. Demonstrates a strategic mindset that influences positive change to the process and business.

The successful candidate should expect to nurture newly established relationships with each of the regional heads and global head of Sales Finance. The candidate reports to the Head of Sales Finance and Markets MI in Chennai and will support in managing the process, people and delivering on the key aspects of the global agenda for the function.

Responsibilities include:

- Be part of the leadership team and Lead the global Sales Finance & Markets MI Reporting team with planned growth over 2 years

- Embed a strong engagement model with each of the regional Sales Finance client facing teams

- Ensure resources are effectively deployed and resource loads clearly communicated or escalated

- Mentor and coach the team through development of new metrics and reporting to meet the changing needs of the business.

- Design effective and meaningful reporting metrics to track reporting SLAs, and to also help identify potential risks or opportunities for report decommissioning, control or process enhancements.

- Provide senior onshore oversight on various infrastructure initiatives where the team is participating, ensuring UAT of high quality and risks communicated early.

- Ensure appropriate training strategies are deployed to promote staff and talent development.

- Ensure a strong people strategy is in place to mitigate operational risk.

Qualifications /Education:

- University degree (Finance specialization)or equivalent, qualified Accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA)

- Post grad qualifications or Masters in Finance will be looked upon highly.

Application Skills (Highly Desirable):

- Proficiency in Business Objects based reporting (WebIntelligence and/or Rich Client)

- Advanced Excel skills, proficient in designing innovative solutions to drive efficiencies and sophisticated report presentation skills

Knowledge and Experience:

- Demonstrate a track record of leading a medium to large sized team

- Leading a team of 8 or more B5s and B4s staffs

- Demonstrable examples on coaching and performance management

- Strong stakeholder management

- Extensive revenue reporting experience

- 8-10 years of relevant experience in Investment Banking or equivalent

- Securities and capital markets desirable.

- Investment Banking or Product Control experience desirable.

- Strong on control awareness. A confident and articulate self-starter with the ability to cope with the demands of working to tight deadlines.

- Keen analytical skills and the ability to challenge current processes and develop effective alternate solutions.

- A team player with a high level of commitment and enthusiasm.

- Comfortable with the demands of working in a pressured environment.

- Strong interpersonally and have the ability to communicate at all levels.

- Strong control awareness - in particular, the individual should be able to identify initiatives which they have led which has directly improved the control environment for the area they work in

- Ability to streamline processes in a most efficient manner not only within the team but also within the firm, and if required, negotiate / persuade other department to accept the change.

- Able to perform good analysis, resolve problems and initiate workable innovative recommendations and solutions to take the function forward to achieve better performance efficiencies
