Job Description:

Lead the OTC Settlements team in Mumbai which is provides pre-matching, settlements and post settlement support to the FX, Rates, Credits, Loans, Equities business across the globe. The scope of work for the team includes pre-settlements, settlements monitoring & post settlement activities like fails management, breaks investigation & resolution across European markets. Considering the team is a global hub for OTC settlements with 100% presence in Mumbai, the role demands the incumbent to be a self starter with a flair for leading projects and interacting with teams including Middle Offices and Front Offices globally with a view to provide advisory services and also trouble shoot issues and escalations.

Role & Responsibilities:

- Process Management: Provide functional leadership to the OTC Settlements team in Mumbai including manpower planning, service delivery, Operational risk/loss mitigation, and ownership of all service delivery SLA’s. Act as the local subject matter expert on functional aspects of the settlements process and be able to independently trouble shoot problems encountered during the settlement cycle.

- Process Improvements: Act as the change agent for processes owned in Mumbai and identify and implement strategic improvements/enhancements to systems and processes which ultimately drives material economic benefits to the Firm and improves the control environment within the settlements function.

- People Management: Build, develop, and nurture the Mumbai settlements team into a best in class settlements outfit across the street. Uphold the people management practices and philosophies of the Firm so that we retain our top talent and replace our non performers.

- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong working relations with different on shore and off shore teams (like Middle Office, Trading Desks, other Core Ops teams etc).

- Product & Domain Knowledge: Participate and/or lead various strategic “change the bank” initiatives relating to OTC Settlements and build the functional skills of the team and self. Continuously develop and keep abreast of latest developments with respect to OTC settlements market wide initiatives, like client clearing, penalty regimes, affirmation and confirmation processes.

Knowledge & Skills:

- Strong people management skills

- Fostering a culture of relationship management with various cross functional regional teams

- Analytical skills and an eye for detail

- Proven track record for managing change projects.

- Understanding risk and controls, legal and compliance requirements.

- Top notch communication skills

- Complete understanding of Front to Bank trade life cycle and risk associated.

- In-depth knowledge of settlements across product classes and markets.

- In-depth understanding of CLS settlements and associated controls and risks.

- Knowledge of ongoing EMIR & CFCTC related requirements impacting settlements and confirmation will be an added advantage.

Qualification & Experience:

- Graduate/Post Graduate with 12+ years of experience, bulk of which should have been in managing similar settlement functions within an Investment Bank

Relevant experience with an Investment Bank or Financial Institution
