Role Overview

The role is responsible for shaping the channel's content, communication and brand strategy and driving viewership in all the properties. It will hold the dual responsibility of leading Programming and Marketing for the channel.

Key Responsibilities

- Working with the Business Head and the key stakeholders, build and execute a strong plan to launch, embed and grow the channel in India.

- Responsible for ensuring that the entire value chain of Programming is running efficiently - planning / strategy, execution, viewer insights and analytics on an ongoing basis

- Work closely and develop the content strategy and identify and select the content across the genre that fits with the channel portfolio. Liaising with representatives for the sourcing of such content

- Develop innovative communication and brand strategy in accordance with guidelines and in a manner to best connect and impact the viewer in terms of appeal and relatability

- Think holistically about the brand (trade and consumer) in India, develop innovative ideas to bring the channel brand and program brands to life within the operating brand guidelines

- Build an effective social media strategy and lead the PR initiatives for the business

- Proactively propose collaboration with other network channel brands to drive synergies and best practices.

- Creative brand and show campaigns across all media and deliver on impact and brand building with the target audience.

Strategic Planning & Decision Making :

- Work closely on Consumer Research and Viewership Analytics to build audience insight to inform business and marketing decisions.

- Lead on marketing planning and media plan alongside marketing budget planning and decisions in other network channels.

- Global Editorial Director and Editorial Team

Knowledge & Skills:

- Good understanding of television. Relevant experience in the relevant genre will be an added advantage

- Strategic in mindset and innovative in thinking - ability to think out of the box

- Proven ability to think clearly and act decisively, and effectively lead and motivate a team to excellence

- Strong financial and business skills

- Strong understanding and insight into viewers both from long term and immediate perspective

- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

- Well-developed communication and negotiation skills and the ability to represent the business at the highest levels

- Proven ability to organise and manage a heavy workload and juggle priorities effectively

- Core set of personal values, which ensures integrity and the desire to lead by example

- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders

Education:

A Master's in Business Administration with specialization in Marketing is a Preference ONLY

Professional Experience:

- Candidate should have at least 12 years of experience, ideally in the media industry. 4-5 years of experience in infotainment sector would be an added advantage.

- A background of working with powerful brands or brand properties and for balancing commercial interests and consumer requirements

- Extensive experience of assessing creative and media plans

- Experience in leading teams and influencing stakeholders

- Passion for the genre and Interest in Wildlife, Natural History, Science - NON-FICTION would be an added benefit. Knowledge of the category is a definite advantage.
