Position Description :

Leadership of the US facing Fixed Income Middle Office team which provides post trade support to our US Fixed Income trading desks covering the entire range of fixed income asset classes like Credit, Interest Rate, Leveraged Loans and Securitized Products. The scope of work owned by the team includes trade support and sales support activities like verifying the integrity of trade bookings by means of Trade Blotter/Broker Recap checks, deal reviews of structured trades, electronic confirmations, inter/intra system reconciliations, Sales Allocations and life cycle management activities like Novations, Unwinds, Portfolio compressions and Floating Rate Resets. On the securitized products side, the team performs various trade support activities for the TBA Pass-Through business including allocations/assignments, Open item monitoring and reconciliations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Process Management: Provide functional leadership to the team in Mumbai including manpower planning, service delivery, Operational risk/loss mitigation, and ownership of all service delivery SLA’s. Act as the local subject matter expert on functional aspects of the product/process and be able to independently trouble shoot problems encountered during the trade lifecycle.

- Process Improvements: Act as the change agent for processes owned in Mumbai and identify and implement strategic improvements/enhancements to systems and processes which ultimately drives material economic benefits to the Firm and improves the control environment within the function.

- People Management: Build, develop, and nurture the Mumbai settlements team into a best in class settlements outfit across the street. Uphold the people management practices and philosophies of the Firm so that we retain our top talent and replace our non performers.

- Transition Management: Plan, execute and manage any transitions from the regions into the Mumbai office. This will be a key aspect of the role in the next couple of years as we build our support for the US businesses.

- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong working relations with different on shore and off shore teams (like Regional Middle Offices, Trading Desks, other Ops functional teams etc).

- Product & Domain Knowledge: Participate and/or lead various strategic “change the bank” initiatives relating to Fixed Income products and build the functional skills of the team and self. Continuously develop and keep abreast of latest developments with respect to fixed income products and regulatory changes, like Dodd Frank Act, OTC client clearing, electronic affirmation and confirmation processes.

Qualifications/Experience:

- Graduate/Post Graduate with 12+ years of experience, bulk of which should have been in managing similar functions within an Investment Bank. Having experience across various functional areas within IB Operations (other than Middle Office/Trade Support) will be a definite edge.

- Hands on knowledge of OTC Credit Derivative products (like CDS, Basket Default Swaps, CDS Indexes) and the product lifecycle is mandatory. Knowledge of Securitized Products, esp. Mortgage Backed Securities is desired though not mandatory.

- Good understanding of various trade support functions typically performed by a middle office in an investment bank (electronic confirmations/DTCC, inter/intra system reconciliations, bookings, amendment, trade life cycle management like Novation Management, OTC Clearing and TriOptima Portfolio compression cycles).

- Conceptual understanding of daily P&L production for trading desks and how the trade support functions helps mitigate risk.

- Good understanding of front to back trade lifecycle from booking to confirmations to settlements and finally lifecycle management of derivatives.

- Top notch communication skills.

- Experience of building and running high performing teams

- Prior experience of working in an international setting.

- Track record of having led change programs in earlier organizations.
