VP - Engineering

Job description:

We are seeking a high performing engineering leader with 8-10 years of full stack development experience who will own and lead the technology function within the organization in all aspects of architecting, developing and delivering the core product.

- You will have the opportunity to work on cutting edge technology and new product development in a well funded company set up by senior industry professionals in a differentiated e-com vertical.

- This is a great opportunity for an engineer, to work along with the founders, build a team under him, conceptualise and deliver a product cutting across an integrated value chain and covering front end, DB, SCM, warehousing and fulfillment (all functions performed inhouse).

Role and Responsibilities:

- Overall architectural, design and product delivery responsibility

- Build and manage a development team of in-house engineers and external vendors to deliver the product

- Develop innovative solutions based on product requirements and business challenges in both Python and Javascript

- Ensure all Django Python code is suitable for automated unit testing and own code coverage

- Interact with different stakeholders to gather feedback and clarification

- Research and apply new technologies and best practices

- Design and create efficient RESTful endpoints for both internal and public consumption

- Provide task estimations and deliver quality code on time

- Own and manage multiple data sources (MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch)

- Participate in regular bug fixing Intimate knowledge of Git, Github, AWS, CDNs.

Desired Skills and Experience:

- Should have experience in implementation of Advanced Data Structures and graph algorithms optimization.

- Ideally 3+ years of Python experience, other languages like C++/ Java/ Scala/Haskell would be plus.

- 3+ years professional experience with enterprise architecture and developing highly scalable websites/services.

- Proficiency administering large databases (MySQL, MongoDB).

- Experience with creating RESTful endpoints using the Django REST framework for consumption by backbone.js/ ember.js/ angular.js.

- Working understanding of OOP Javascript and modular design patterns.

- Hands-on experience developing, releasing, and maintaining large-scale software applications (web/mobile).

- Should be best in class Javascript / HTML5 / CSS3.

- Should be comfortable in using Git, Git branches and Github to manage codebases.
