The Role
- The VP of business development leads the team that ‘makes it happen’ – driving the pre-sales technical engagement with customers to successful closure, in collaboration with sales. This is a key role within the senior management team, supporting business closure, helping to set strategic direction, while nurturing emerging technologies

Opportunity
Leading the business development and solutions engineering teams, you will be working with experienced global professionals, driving pre-sales technical support and promotion, working with sales to close agreements with a range of customers from leading blue chips to emerging start-ups. As one of the deputies to the EVP of sales and business development, you will be a key member of the senior management team that helps set Imagination’s strategic direction. Working as a part of a team, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Building & managing a global business development team, ensuring that deliverable's, competitive intelligence, positioning, collateral, etc. are in place
- Supporting the global sales team by coordinating the pre-sales technical support and promotion
- Nurturing emerging technologies
- Winning lead customers for key products
- Working closely with stakeholders in R&D, sales, operations and marketing
- Influencing R&D roadmaps through attendance of roadmap meetings and other fora
- Driving achievement of product line sales budget with other stakeholders
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to drive the PLC of the product line
- Help develop strategies and tactics to penetrate specific market segments/applications
- Networking and presenting at relevant exhibitions, conferences, trade shows and industry forums
- Regular internal reporting using appropriate company processes and systems
- Communicate with other members of the organisation to share best practice and coordinate global customer engagements
Required Skills
- 20 yrs experience in semiconductors, with a minimum of 10 yrs in technical marketing and a minimum of seven years in senior management
- In-depth knowledge of the semiconductor value system and SoC development
- Understanding of the IP licensing process
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Possesses a strong industry network
- Excellent interpersonal skills with inter-cultural awareness
- Able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
- Able to deploy a range of different leadership styles
- Strong team-building and development skills

Working Environment
- The business development organisation consists of a number of business development managers and their direct reports, split between the UK and USA, as well as a team of pre-sales solutions engineers based in several territories. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic office environment, located either in Kings Langley, UK or Sunnyvale, USA. The environment is informal, dynamic and the organization possesses an excellent social scene. The work often entails tight deadlines and the role has a high information load, commensurate with the dynamism of the technology industry
Qualifications
- Degree in electronics/computing or equivalent (required) and an MBA or other management qualification (desirable).
