M-paisa head will be responsible for creating and fulfilling demand for m-paisa. The Head will be responsible to manage the development of channel, eco systems, merchant networks and manpower pool. One of the key functions shall be to support the circle prepaid team in customer acquisition, agent expansion and merchant roll out. One of the key responsibilities of this function will be to manage alternate channel (non-telecom) and build synergy between the 2 channel streams for revenue growth. This position will work closely with circle marketing, CS and Finance at both the circle and HO level.
Following points capture the key responsibilities of the individual:
- Develop & own Circle business plan to drive subscriber penetration, revenue growth and brand leadership in the circle
- Drive implementation of agreed business plan in sales, marketing and eco system development to meet biz goals for circle
- Develop the team to make it best in class through strong formal and informal training and guidance
- Develop a strong and efficient distribution mix to ensure market penetration, quality of service & compliance with regulatory requirement
- Define parameters and plan for merchant sign ups to create an effective eco system in urban and rural markets
- Consumer promotions and channel engagement on a regular basis
- Ensure buy in of peers and superiors at corporate and circle levels
- Joint working with Sales Head, Retail Head, Marketing Head and Finance Head for execution of agreed roadmap
- Single point of contact for all m-paisa development work in the circle inter phasing between circle, corporate and various functions at the circle
- Management of SAC, Marketing and S&D monies to maximize business impact
- Incorporate best practices from across the country and other businesses to improve business
- Continuous improvement in operational quality and high level of customer satisfaction
- Track and report line item wise budgets versus spend, for approved m-paisa deliveries
- Manage a team of:
a) Promoters
b) Market Development Lead
c) Channel Development Lead
- Keep the business continuously evolving for new streams of customer and revenue growth
The person will have 2 direct reporting managers:
Channel Development Lead:
- Will be responsible for the creation, motivation, engagement and performance of the distributors, VS, VMS, agents, PSR and teams under them for m-paisa business. Will develop retail capillarity, market visibility and agent quality
Market Development Lead:
- MDL will be responsible for ensuring revenue growth, merchant tie ups and eco system development. Will work closely with the business solutions team for tie ups with NGOs, MFIs, Salary accounts etc. Shall maintain highest levels of brand visibility at merchant and partner locations.
- Will have 2 off role team members for aiding in the above.
Following will be key deliverables coming from m paisa head:
- Meeting projected subscriber numbers
- Delivery of BD agent width across the circle and extraction from them
- Meet revenue targets for the circle
- Keep the team motivated and develop them for higher assignments
- Regular business reviews with main line and alternate streams
- Reviews of vendors for Promoters/ MDSE/ Village activities etc.
- Development of eco systems - NGOs, MFIs, Corporates etc.
- Roll out of merchant network across the circle
- Maintaining visibility at agents and merchants through budget optimization
- Keep in touch & coordinate with the bank's officials in the circle & ensure synergies & coordination in the field
Mandatory skills:
- Overall 8-10 years of Telecom / Retail finance / banking experience
- Strong experience of managing new businesses right from delivery planning to realization
- Experience of working with large teams & organizations in various capacities in sales, project/program manager
- Experience of managing large, vendors & ensuring their ROIs
- Experience to manage large programs in multi-vendor and multi-product setup with stringent deadlines and quality expectations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Clear, concise business communication style with attention to details
- Experience to interact with senior business and IT executives
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with program stakeholders
- Experience in defining governance models and ensure implementations
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills
