Vice President - Paints & Chemicals / VP- Tiles & Sanitary ware / VP - Kitchen & Hardware /VP- Structural Materials
Functional :
- To finalize the product and service offer for the retail business in building materials and allied by closely working with internal and external stakeholders
- Human capacity building in category management for all the categories in building materials spaces (Category wise hiring only ; Construction material/ Paints/ Sanitary ware, Tiles, fittings etc.)
- Implement processes and systems by incorporating best-in-class practices contextualized to Indian environment wrt. pricing, quality assurance, vendor selection etc.
- Spearhead operational alliances and partnerships with vendors (Indian and aboard) that facilitate the differentiation of the product offer
- Initiate pilots for private label / own label development for core categories
- Ramp up of human capability in category management in line with the growth of the retail business and expansion
- Continuously monitor product offer's ability to differentiate and disrupt the existing market structure in the geographies of operations
- Maintain the fine balance between improvement in the margin contribution of the product offer and growth of top-line
- Increase the share of private label contribution
- Evaluate the strength vendor alliances to maintain market edge and improvement vendor relationships to maintain product differentiation
- Monitor and improve vendor on-boarding and vendor audit processes
Leadership :- Manage, train and supervise team of category managers
- Interact with other departments such as retail operations, sales and business development,
- Key account managers to ensure that merchandising team is aligned with the overall strategy and vision.
Skills and Experience: Essential : - 12-15 years of cross functional experience in channel management, sales and product management in Home Improvement / Consumer Durables / Building Material categories and / or experience of leading merchandising function of a part or wholesale retail operations in home, non-food retailing environment
- Excellent understanding 2-3 Home Improvement Categories and their demand drivers in Urban India
- Experience of launching new products for national / regional brands and / or driving geographic expansion or experience of scaling up merchandising function of retail business in a region or Pan India
- Good understanding of the retailing value chain comprising, retailers/ dealers / distributors in building material/ consumer durables, furnishings or allied categories
- 3-4 years of experience of driving private label strategy and growing private label's share in the retail business or experience of leading category extensions of leading brands into new categories in building materials and allied environment
- Experience of leading 10-15 member high calibre and cross functional teams
- Demonstrated experience of working on new projects
