VP Project Development (Solar Business)


This a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end development of solar projects, from concept to commissioning. This position plays a crucial role in driving the growth of the company's solar portfolio, identifying project opportunities, conducting feasibility studies, securing permits, and ensuring successful project execution.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Project Identification and Opportunity Assessment:

- Identify potential solar project opportunities by analyzing market trends, government policies, and renewable energy incentives.

- Conduct initial assessments to evaluate the feasibility and financial viability of potential projects.

2. Site Selection and Land Acquisition:

- Lead the process of site selection for solar projects, considering factors such as solar irradiance, grid connection, and environmental impact.

- Manage land acquisition negotiations and agreements with landowners or relevant authorities.

3. Financial Analysis and Project Planning:

- Conduct detailed financial analysis, including project cost estimation, revenue forecasting, and return on investment (ROI) assessment.>Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets.

4. Permitting and Regulatory Compliance:

- Manage the permitting process for solar projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, utility companies, community representatives, and environmental organizations.

- Build positive relationships and address concerns to facilitate smooth project development.

6. Project Financing and Contracting:

- Collaborate with finance and legal teams to secure project financing and negotiate contracts with suppliers, contractors, and other partners.

- Mitigate project risks and ensure favorable terms.

7. Commissioning and Handover:

- Oversee the commissioning process to ensure successful project completion and grid integration.

- Facilitate a smooth handover to the operations and maintenance team.

8. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

- Establish performance metrics to monitor project performance and track key performance indicators (KPIs).

- Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and stakeholders.

Candidate's Profile:

1. Bachelors degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business Administration, or a related field. A Masters degree is a plus.

2. Proven experience in project development within the solar or renewable energy industry.

3. In-depth knowledge of solar project development processes, including site selection, permitting, financing, and construction.

4. Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and policies in the solar sector.

5. Strong financial acumen and ability to conduct project financial analysis.

6. Effective communication and negotiation abilities to work with stakeholders at all levels.

7. Problem-solving skills and ability to handle project challenges and risks.

8. Familiarity with solar technologies, equipment, and industry trends.
