VP - In-House Legal Counsel (Female) @ Global Bank

The Legal and Compliance division of a leading global bank in Mumbai is looking for a VP (Female Candidates only) as in- house legal counsel. The position will report directly to India Head of Legal and work closely with India firm management and APAC Legal and Compliance Division management.

The candidate should come with 7-11 years post qualification experience in the India market in a law firm and relevant industry - investment banking, financial services, securities law, capital markets (ECM /DCM transactions), corporate advisory and regulatory work.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Keep stakeholders (internal clients, outside legal counsel, colleagues, staff, business units) informed of relevant legal and regulatory developments and implications

- Manage legal risk including contractual negotiations, local licensing and regulatory issues, outsourcing arrangements and compliance with laws

- Identify and resolve issues relating to suitability of transactions and external clients, franchise protection and sound management of conflicts of interests;

- Advise and work and working with business teams on a range of finance transactions;

- Assist with training and preparation of procedures/policies;

- Engage with colleagues in other regions/time zones to ensure consistent practices across the Firm;

- Communicate with local regulators

- Participate in industry working groups.
