Job Title: Vice President - R&D Head

Location: Ankleshwar, Gujarat

About the Role:

We are seeking an accomplished Vice President, R&D Head to lead our Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and Contract Development & Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) business. This role involves driving innovation, leading product and process development, and ensuring compliance with global regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong techno-commercial background, preferably a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related field, and extensive experience in managing API generic development and CDMO operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Strategic R&D Leadership - Oversee API and CDMO R&D operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory frameworks.

- Product Development - Lead new API development, process optimization, and scale-up activities to enhance efficiency and commercial viability.

- Regulatory Compliance & Filings - Ensure compliance with US, EU, and other regulated markets, with expertise in regulatory filings.

- Team & Project Management - Manage and mentor cross-functional teams across multiple locations, ensuring the successful execution of R&D projects.

- External Collaborations - Partner with CROs, CMOs, and global stakeholders to accelerate product development timelines.

- Techno-Commercial Expertise - Work closely with Business Development teams to drive customer engagement and secure CDMO projects.

- Portfolio & Project Oversight - Manage a pipeline of 7-10 projects annually, balancing API and CDMO developments.

Required Skills & Experience:

- 15+ years of experience in Analytical R&D (AR&D), API development, and CDMO leadership roles.

- Proven expertise in API generic development with exposure to global regulatory markets.

- Strong understanding of regulatory filing requirements (US, EU, and other regulated markets).

- Techno-commercial acumen - ability to connect R&D innovation with business growth strategies.

- Leadership experience in managing cross-functional and global teams.

- Strong networking and stakeholder management experience with global clients, small biotech firms, and multinational pharmaceutical companies.

- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and scalability.

- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related field (preferred); Master's degree with extensive industry experience will also be considered.

- Preferably experienced in Peptide Business, Techno-Functional Leadership, and Global R&D Management.

- Candidates from companies like Neuland, MSL, and Dr. Reddy's are highly preferred.

Reporting & Team Structure:

Reports to: Head of R&D / Senior Leadership

Team Structure: Directly managing multiple verticals, including Product Development, CDMO, and Project Management (CMO/CRO collaborations).

Preferred Candidate Profile:

- Experience working with small to mid-sized global pharmaceutical companies (India, US, Europe).

- Strong business development skills and customer engagement experience.

- Open to diverse leadership candidates, including female professionals.

- Willing to relocate to Ankleshwar, Gujarat, or Mumbai as per business needs.
