Job Description:
The Vice President Finance (VP-F) will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As a member of the senior management team, the VP-F will participate in developing the company's strategy, and create and implement the organization's financial plans. The VP-F will be responsible for overseeing all accounting, treasury, budget, cost control, and taxation and compliance functions.
Specific responsibilities include:
Strategy
Assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and long-term strategy. Develop processes and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
- Engage with the board of directors on issues, trends, and changes in the operating model and operational delivery.
- Assist in establishing yearly objectives and selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, investment advisors).
- Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with company's strategic plan, especially as the organization considers sponsorships, potential acquisitions, and collaborations with external organizations.
- Partner with senior management to use financial data and analysis to measure and drive strategic decisions and their impact.
Financial and Operational Management
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring regulatory requirements, and management and budget requirements.
- Ensure the creation of timely and accurate MIS to serve management needs.
- Create and maintain internal control safeguards and coordinate all audit activities.
- Manage cash flow and forecasting and the treasury function including optimal management of forex inflows and outflows both to mitigate risks and optimize profitability. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism.
- Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets so as to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally ; coordinate with all budget owners to support in preparation of budget and monitoring of utilization
- Support senior leadership in understanding and using financial analysis and tools particularly in detailed cost analysis.
- Provide periodic reports and information/ analysis as required on cost, variance analysis and cost control.
- Oversee direct and indirect tax management in consultation with external experts.
- Manage payroll processes.
Leadership and Collaboration
- The GM- Finance will report to this role directly.
- Mentor and develop a direct team, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic.
- Guide larger, cross-divisional teams outside of direct span of control within the company.
- Engage other members of the senior management team to facilitate cross-department collaboration that ensures that all financial, IT, and HR solutions positively support the company's evolving strategic, operational, compliance and data needs
Qualifications
The VP-F will be a seasoned professional with about 16-20 years of broad finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting, followed by experience across the finance function and in particular gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership. Experience in the IT/ITeS/KPO industry would be desirable though not essential.
The VP-F will have the following experience and attributes:
- A master's degree in business administration from a premier institute or a Chartered Accountant with an excellent academic record.
- Demonstrable passion for the company's mission; a hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic environment
- Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the MD / CEO of a multi-divisional organization
- Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model
- Deep understanding of and experience with management and budget audits
- An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information
- A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality.
