The responsibility of Middle Office is to:
- Ensure the integrity of the bank's trading positions through accurate trade capture, portfolio management, price reconciliations and query management.
- Provide value-added solutions to enable the business to swiftly realize new opportunities when they arise.
- Deliver an independent, robust and controlled environment that underpins the business activity.
- Ensure a first-class client experience.
The India Middle Office is primarily responsible for the Trade management and control of both the standard and non standard elements of the business.
Products include: -
Derivatives [Equities & Other Cross Asset Products traded for purpose of hedging] -
Securities [Cash Equities & Synthetic Prime]
Managing and leading a team based in India whilst maintaining seamless links with the extended MO in the primary locations. Retaining, growing and motivating individuals to enable delivery. Creating a technically strong, proactive and healthy team dynamic that's leverages individuals- best strengths.
- Ownership of all MO trade support functions residing in the team
- Ability to support the regional primary location MO's and being the expert on the Equities Derivatives & Securities product suite
- Lead and participate in multiple initiatives
- Continuous management and re-engineering of MO controls processes. Maintain and identify and implement new and/or improved processes achieving process efficiencies and increased productivity
- Develop and manage a strong team to enable delivery and execution.
- The key areas that will be managed in Mumbai from Trade Management support area will be Inter-entity reconciliations for Derivatives and Securities and Market Information.
Qualities we are looking for
- 10+ years of Operational Management experience demonstrating: strong product knowledge; a thorough and in-depth understanding of the transaction cycle around, accounting convention and reconciliations around these products.
- Leadership - Leads by example and is an effective role model (e.g. takes the lead and actions reflect an appropriate level of independence; demonstrates the ability to initiate and effect change and continuous improvement, contributes significantly to the on-going development of people.)
- Communication - Is organized, clear and confident in written and oral communications. Actively engages in discussions offering expertise, opinions and advice.
- Teamwork - Creates and/or contributes to an environment of collaboration and mutual responsibility (e.g. effectively influences others to gain cooperation and address issues; initiates and is responsive to requests from other products, regions, etc.)
- Change management - Should be creative and innovative; challenges status quo; generates strategic advice/product/client solutions Ability to formulate innovative ideas, gain buy-in from stakeholders and execute improvements in a challenging environment. Analytical and quantitative aptitude. Adaptability to learn new tasks and demonstrate a willingness to understand the detail of a process
- Strong relationship management and partnership skills across regions (Asia, EMEA and NA). Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the business, Technology and Corporate groups and work with partners across regions.
- Set and leads the strategic direction of the group in-line with the overall global MO direction.
- Strong control mindset, focus on continual process and system improvements, increase capacity management
- Highly organized, motivated and strong prioritisation to ensure delivery in-line with business/operations agenda
- Dynamic, detail oriented, fast learning capacity and able to work in a high pressure environment
- Managing ad-hoc Control centred projects and performing detailed root cause analysis investigation where required
