We are considering experienced engineers who have been performing mentorship roles and contributing to architectural decisions. We are looking for a VP Engineering to help us execute on the current product roadmap, and build an engineering team. Ideally you are an experienced engineer with expertise in architecting solutions (Preferably at a fintech) - experience building products from the ground up is a plus. You will become an expert on all things in commercial insurances and drive that understanding across engineering, data science, and product management.
Technology-wise, we are looking for someone with a deep understanding of:
Frontend : HTML, CSS, vue js
Backend : Python (Django Framework)
Server : Apache
Database: PostgreSQL
Deployment on cloud : AWS/DigitalOcean
AI/ML/NLP
Understanding of Data Science
Technology Strategy:
- Serve as a key member of the management team that sets the company's tech strategy direction
- A consultative and customer-centric approach to solving challenges with the ability to develop and execute a technical approach with a focus on scale and quality
- Define standards & best practices to support agile development processes
- Plan, track and estimate product development activities
- Ensure the optimal application of technology and engineering resources to meet product development and/or customer requirements as per the product and/or marketing requirements document.
- Strategise the technology that links closely to the company's direction.
- Prioritise and guide the technology pieces and lean on technical knowledge to contribute to the decision making process of the founders.
Technology Execution:
- Hands on with coding and building scalable and distributed software products and infrastructure Development of products
- Comfortable writing code as we scale up
- Accountable to build a product or suite of products that turn over large portions of the entire company's revenue.

- Strong cross-functional skills, enabling you to work closely with product, design, data science, and other business-facing functions (revenue, ops, etc)
- Own the delivery process, the performance of engineers, resourcing and prioritization of projects.
- Think cross-department initiatives, efficiencies through building systems for reuse, and being in tune with how best to invest time, money and people and get outcomes that benefit both Engineering (e.g. interesting, innovative, challenging work) and the whole business (e.g. improving speed, reducing cost, or unlocking new products).
