VP Engeineering - Fintech / Payments
As VP of Engineering, you will collaborate with company-wide stakeholders to lead the execution and own the delivery of the technology strategy and products with a strong team of engineers and developers.
Core Responsibilities:
Management & Product Delivery:
- Plan the technical roadmap with the Co-Founder, considering the broader business goals and execute
- Ensure the engineering teams driving various products in the company are delivering high-quality products as per the plan.
- Strategize with clear goals and timelines and adhere to them. Highlight and solve the risks of execution and effective delivery.
- Provide the teams with the resources and support they need to be successful.
- Set up, monitor, learn, and improve the engineering teams' processes and methodologies to increase efficiency and productivity.
Implementation of Technology Vision and Strategy:
- Align and understand the company's broader and technology vision from the Co-founders.
- Work with the Co-founders to co-design the technology strategy and drive its effective implementation.
Security, Consistency & Quality:
- Ensure the development and deployment of applications in a secure manner
- Collaborate to earn required security certifications as required to maintain and communicate high standards of security across applications and integrations
- Maintain consistency of products, design, and coding standards across the company
People Management & Cross-company Alignment:
- Run 1:1s, recruit new hires, identify skills gaps, support with required training and mentoring (directly or indirectly), and provide growth and development opportunities for the entire engineering team.
- Drive cross-company engagement to drive synergies across different departments with the engineering teams for seamless alignment and collaboration.
- Ensure execution of the company policies (HR, Finance, etc.) and contribute to re-designing them to drive a thriving, enjoyable, and productive work environment for each team member.
Expected Skills:
- Strong technical expertise and experience in any of the popular technology stacks; Java, Spring Boot will be preferred.
- Good Understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, GCP
- Curious and detail-oriented about the latest trends and technologies
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Identify and solve complex technical problems
- Ability to plan for the long term while executing in the short term
- Mentoring and coaching skills
Qualifications & Background Desired:
- 10-15 years of experience in overall software development and engineering Management
- 5+ years of managerial experience leading multiple teams of developers and engineers
- Proven experience of solid execution in the B2C (preferably in Fintech product companies) and B2B environments
- Experience working in high-growth startup environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across groups.
