Roles and responsibilities:
- Establish design guidelines and best engineering practices to drive the adoption of innovative technologies and techniques for bodyworks, vehicle integration and testing.
- Collaborate with design studio teams on vehicle, charging and accessory programs and facilitate engineering led product maturity.
- Establish material selection guidelines and drive the adoption of sustainable materials and processes.
- Lead efforts to lower the environmental impact of components by considering emissions in manufacturing, use phase, and end-of-life phase.
- Explore and implement the use of composites/alternate materials for body works, chassis and electro-mechanical components.
- Drive the simplification of the product design through the adoption of innovative manufacturing processes to help reduce weight, improve performance, and reduce costs.
- Lead your teams with strength and confidence through rapid development cycles, changing requirements, and uncertainty.
- Build, manage and collaborate a team of visionary engineers, guiding them in the design, development, and integration of bodyworks (Castings, forging, plastics), chassis, and mechanical system
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent. Provide ongoing training, coaching, and professional development opportunities to empower team members and foster a culture of learning and growth.
- Constantly work to evolve our processes and systems towards increasing precision and dependability, while maintaining ability to change quickly when needed.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects for new technology launch and new vehicle launch within established timelines and budget constraints. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into vehicle programs
- Spearhead hands-on technical initiatives, from concept to production, ensuring our vehicles exceed performance standards while embodying our commitment to sustainability.
- Stay ahead of the curve by pioneering advancements in plastics, exteriors, castings, and forging technologies, setting new industry benchmarks.
- Implement robust Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Design for Assembly (DFA) processes to ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability in our products.
- Forge strategic partnerships and nurture relationships with suppliers, ensuring our supply chain remains at the forefront of innovation.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive decarbonization strategy for body exterior and applicable parts across vehicle lines.
