Role Description:
The Economist/Strategist will produce, and oversee high-quality and innovative research and analytical work on macroeconomic and sectoral issues. The Senior Economist will be responsible for producing research targeted notes for senior management. The primary responsibility researching macro-economic, financial markets, and industry trends and evaluating issues of strategic importance to business.. The Senior Economist will need a strong background in data analysis and excellent writing skills, in a field related to macroeconomic policy. The role requires a high level of flexibility and self-motivation.
Job Accountabilities:
- Design, manage and execute macro economic or sector specific research projects.
- Conduct background research and literature reviews;
- Write technical reports and policy briefs;
- Prepare thematic research reports targeted for Senior Management
- Contribute to the thought leadership projects and participate dynamic research and analysis agenda of the Economics team.
- Build relations with a wide range of stakeholders, engage productively with key internal stakeholders, including executive functions, treasury, and other group verticals.
- Working with the Treasury team to generate an internal view on Interest Rate cycles and creating macro-economic data sources.
Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills):
- A solid analytical skills with a demonstrable ability to work with diverse and complex quantitative and qualitative data from a wide range of sources.
- Excellent writing skills. To be able to quickly write under pressure without errors.
- Attention to detail is absolutely essential and an experience in leading research projects.
- Advanced quantitative aptitude, and statistical analysis
- Familiarity with the use and development of economic modelling
- Prefer experience across markets and/or across sectors in macro/thematic research.
- Good interpersonal skills and communication skills - both oral & written
- Proficiency in at least one statistical software or language and conversant with various computer applications: Microsoft Office Tools, VBA, and statistical software applications (e.g.: STATA, R)
- Ability to work under pressure and on multiple projects.
- Understanding of contemporary debates in economic policy in India, US, and Europe.
Key Attributes (Experience and Qualifications):
- PhD or Master's in economics (or relevant discipline) from a reputed university with excellent academic record.
- Candidates must have a sound understanding of economic theory & empirical methods.
- 20+ years of work experience.
- Experience of macroeconomic model-building and with good analytical and writing skills.
