Job Overview:
- The Vice President of Risk Management will play a pivotal role in balancing the bank's risk exposure with its objectives to maximize returns, specifically focusing on personal loans within the consumer retail portfolio across India.
- This position involves collaborating with various business units to manage risks effectively, oversee policy and process management, and ensure compliance with evolving regulations and market conditions.
- The role requires a high level of expertise in credit risk management, strategic oversight, and the ability to drive portfolio management initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Policy and Process Management:
- Develop, implement, and manage risk policies and processes specifically related to personal loans within the consumer retail portfolio across India.
- Ensure policies are robust, aligned with best practices, and support the bank's strategic goals and risk appetite.
Product Program Preparation and Implementation:
- Assist in the design and execution of product programs related to personal loans.
- Work closely with product managers to ensure that programs are effectively launched and meet market demands while managing associated risks.
Asset Quality Reviews and Analytics:
- Facilitate regular reviews of asset quality, providing insightful analytics to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Recommend and implement relevant actions to address identified issues and enhance portfolio performance.
Credit Policy and Risk Acceptance Criteria Review:
- Ensure that credit policies and program risk acceptance criteria are reviewed and updated regularly.
- Adapt policies proactively in response to changes in legal and regulatory requirements, business strategies, market conditions, or portfolio performance.
Portfolio Management and Credit Cycle:
- Drive portfolio management initiatives through a comprehensive credit cycle management framework.
- Collaborate with product managers, credit systems teams, credit operations teams, and collection teams to ensure effective management of the credit lifecycle.
Credit Systems and Policy Implementation:
- Partner with the credit systems support team to implement and maintain key credit policy criteria within relevant credit acceptance and evaluation systems.
- Ensure that systems are up-to-date and align with the latest credit policy requirements.
Risk Issue Escalation:
- Identify and escalate significant risk issues to business management promptly.
- Coordinate with senior management to develop and execute appropriate remedial actions.
Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs):
- Ensure timely completion of RCSAs, including the development and implementation of action plans to address identified control gaps.
- Monitor and follow up on issues and action plans arising from RCSAs, risk events, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), regulatory inspections, or other risk-related matters.
Compliance and Follow-Up:
- Ensure all issues and action plans identified through risk assessments, audits, and inspections are adequately addressed and resolved.
- Maintain thorough documentation and follow-up on the implementation of corrective measures.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 12 years of experience in risk management, credit risk assessment, or related fields, with a proven track record in managing personal loan portfolios.
