Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role)
- This role represents a lead role for the CAU Funds team covering GBM and HSS funds across Traditional, Alternative and Hedge Funds and across 3 GSC locations of Bangalore, Kolkata and Kuala Lumpur with oversight of approximately 80 staff.
- The ideal candidate will need to possess notable skills in stakeholder / relationship management, people management, mentoring capabilities, strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a keen eye to plan proactively and participate in various strategic and operational initiatives.
- From a functional perspective, the candidate should demonstrate expertise in the end-to-end credit assessment and application process, sound knowledge of the funds sector, working knowledge of diverse systems, and an eye for detail to ensure quality of output and process efficiency are constantly monitored and upgraded.
- Active management of team members, maintaining productivity of the team, optimally distributing work, ensuring KPIs are met, resource planning in terms of capacity plan, hiring and recruitment will also need to be managed. From an administrative standpoint, the role would enhance senior leadership presence in Kolkata and support existing leadership.

- Engage Business and Risk Stakeholders effectively. Drive Positive perception on service quality among stakeholder group across all regions that CAU services.
- Ensure RTB Services are run smoothly, with low/no escalations. Workflow planning and resourcing planning is optimum (right staffing, right utilization) & ensure timely recruitment of team members (back fill/growth). Ensure key RTB metrics like PLAs, overdues, monthly onboarding targets are met consistently.
- Establish and drive rigor around the fund on-boarding, spreading, excess monitoring and credit renewal processes and ensure standardization across sites. Ensure that MI for KPIs/KRIs is transparent and there are timely escalation of issues.
- Implement BCP strategy across sites in line with the GBRT BCP guidelines to address operational risk.
- Issues/potential problems are to be professionally and promptly handled & escalated to the Offshore Head of CAU and Global Head of Funds for assistance or guidance towards reaching a quick and positive resolution.
- Actively support various strategic initiatives for CAU with strong bonding between offshore and onshore.

- Collaborate with various teams within GBM and GBMSC in ensuring that overall business objectives are effectively met. Ensure actions from the strategic planning of the Funds transformation are implemented in a timely fashion.
- Organize and conduct periodic discussions with stakeholders (DD&C, Wholesale Credit & Market Risk Teams and CAU Regional /onshore Heads).
- Funds data quality is top priority. Ensure adequate governance and discipline around the Primary and Secondary control framework submissions (including excesses).
- Maintain a repository of MI for the region and actively drive standards and service delivery. TRACS workflow tool and the Funds App (HBEU onboarding MI tool) to be leveraged to its full extent to bring about material MI benefits for key stakeholders.
- Represent CAU Offshore (along with the SME) and provide technical inputs for all projects and technology changes. To provide inputs & drive the projects to its logical conclusion through proper allocation of time & resources and within the scheduled commitment.
- Play a key role in driving Business Process Reengineering & standardization initiatives across various geographies.
- Manage key strategic migrations. Ensuring the process, procedures, systems, policies & FTE requirements are well documented & critically evaluated before/during the migration process.

- Ensure on time completion of semiannual & and full Year performance reviews, well supported by direct feedback from Onshore CAU and Regional Account Managers (e.g. through Transactional Voice of Business).
- Sustain the motivation levels of the team in core responsibilities and in the wider GSC and CSR activities.
- Retain and groom top performers, manage attrition effectively.
- The role would augment existing senior leadership in CAU Kolkata and serve as a deputy representing CAU in Kolkata.

Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority) :
Key activity of the CAU Funds Team (covering traditional, alternative and hedge funds across GBM and HSS) is to :
- support Client Management Services and RMs with the on-boarding of funds
- implement robust monitoring, reporting and escalations of excesses, NAV, covenant breaches and collateral moves
- obtain the required inputs to generate a CRR for the portfolio of funds at initiation and as required during periodic reviews,
- Provide value added analysis and credit assessment as part of the credit application for renewals, new money requests or limit amendments
- support post-sanctioning housekeeping activities including limit updates, CRR updates and WMR approvals.
Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements) :
- Demonstrates leadership on regulatory and compliance matters. Maintains awareness of risk and minimizes the likelihood of it occurring through its identification, assessment, mitigation and control.
Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements) :
- Maintains internal control standards, raises MSIIs (as and when required) and addresses audit points, and/or any issues raised by regulators in a timely manner. Fosters a compliance culture within the team, managing compliance risk and ensuring that the necessary training is completed. Optimizes relations with regulators.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role - not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.) :
- Robust leadership and people management capability backed by top quality servicing and motivation skills.
- Strong knowledge of the Funds sector in an analytical/supervisory role.
- Candidate needs to have a good understanding of end-to-end credit processes, policies, systems and banking products.
- Masters in Business, Finance, Economics or equivalent is essential and any professional qualification is desirable.
- Candidate's current/past profiles should have involved extensive interactions with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Around 10-12 years of work experience in Credit Analysis, Research, Corporate or Institutional Banking coupled with large team management with an operations background preferred.
- Highly proficient in MS Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills - written and oral, organized, diligent, and above all a good team player.
