About Digital Ventures (DV) Growth & Innovation team: DV is responsible for overall consumer facing Digital Businesses for Viacom18 - one of India's leading media & entertainment companies. DV's flagship product, VOOT (a Video-on-Demand platform) was launched in May, 2016 and was selected as Google Play Best of 2016 apps in India and Best of iOS apps for 2017. Presently it has ~50,000 hours of content across multiple languages and genres. VOOT is a leading video streaming platform in India with ~50 mn monthly active users and 50 min+ time spent per viewer per day. In Sep, 2017, VOOT also won the most coveted global media innovation award for Content Distribution at IBC Amsterdam.
The Growth & Innovation (G&I) team drives overall growth for the business by working closely with senior leaders across functions and businesses. The team is comprised of an eclectic mix of ~10 professionals hailing from top undergrad and post graduate institutions from around the world and have experience across leading global strategy consulting firms and digital behemoths.
Job Description : Digital Ventures - Growth & Innovation
This role is focused on helping scale the VOOT suite of apps in India and abroad. This role shall work closely with key leaders across Viacom18 Digital Ventures and across the digital ecosystem players
Key responsibilities :
- Own, design and execute digital strategy for the group
- Conduct regular business reviews to monitor health metrics across functions and revenue lines to suggest appropriate course corrections
- Uncover synergies and align key business leaders on shared health metrics
- Benchmark BU performance against competitor benchmarks
- Help setup an experimentation cell and drive innovation projects
- Generate sector insights for digital ecosystem and monitor key sector trends
- Define and maintain BU level audience segmentation across all functions and teams
- Internally and externally evangelize key initiatives of the group
- Establish pricing models for key audiences
- Coordinate across publishing, marketing, product and content to envision and execute innovative solutions
- Manage critical multi-functional projects on enhancing consumer/ customer data
- Thought Leadership: Liaison with 3rd party industry bodies to conceptualize and disseminate case studies for successful innovations and present in national / international conferences
Background/ Knowhow :
- Overall 6-8 years of experience with 3-4 years in top strategy consulting firms or Strategy/ Planning function in large companies
- MBA from a top B-School (ISB, IIM A/B/C/L, FMS and XLRI) - graduated in 2014-17
- BE/ B Tech or BA Economics preferred
- Experience of working in large teams and managing change management projects
- Strong relationship building, negotiation and influencing skills
- Curiosity about and broad awareness of global developments in digital space
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Self-driven and entrepreneurial
