About the role :-

Varaha - is now looking for a high-performing, Lead Marketing and Communications expert to support this ambition. We're looking for an entrepreneurial professional who as well as running the delivery, will grow our communications work and its strategic impact. - The role will work closely with the founders and will also have access to a multi disciplined international team to support their work and own development. The role requires a background of success in working with business or government or on a significant project and would suit someone interested in driving new approaches and ideas in collaboration with a whole team.

Role responsibilities

- Lead on the comms activity of our programmes with business and government.

- Devise and deliver the right mix of communications disciplines as required.

- Establish and execute strong promotional plans for our priority campaigns in India or outside.

- Ensure our profile and engagement with state governments is growing in line with our strategic objective

- Manage proactive and reactive media relations.

- Create news stories, delivering through press releases, editorials, social media, etc.

- Work with our network of partners to support the profile of our work.

- Lead a programme to build our relationships with journalists to drive results.

- Work with the partnership team and programmes to support a systematic approach to building relationships with both federal and state governments.

- Building own external stakeholder relationships with peers in the comms operations of influential organisations.

- Manage work on a small number of events with stakeholders, supported by local and global team.

- Contribute content to our digital marketing products.

- Monitor, evaluate and report on our external communications impact.

- Work flexibly as and when required, across international time zones.

Essential experience

- PR/campaigning - running major communications-based campaigns over time towards specific objectives, using a combination of channels.

- Media/digital media - not only writing press releases but building media contacts and organisational profile over time, with results to show.

- Public affairs - working in or with business, managing engagement with governments, or vice versa, on significant issues, building relationships.

- Experience within a significant communications/PR team - in business, in a government entity, another non-profit or consultancy, managing a major area of work.

- Communications planning - focused on outcomes, innovation and contributing to strategy.

- Experienced in writing great content that works for local and international audiences.

- Managing internal stakeholders - supporting their needs whilst being a strong advocate for external communications considerations.

- A good understanding of news and an ability to construct news-focused press releases and speak to journalists.

- Proactivity, working without close supervision and ability to seek support from colleagues where required.

- Fluent in written and spoken English with a high level of writing and editing skills.

- Strong political antennae for working with governmental stakeholders.

- Experience in different communications tactics to increase an organisation's profile and influence.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, integrated and international communications team, working across stakeholder relations, public affairs, media, web, social media, etc.

- At ease in managing multiple priorities and requests at any one time, managing time and expectations to the level expected of a senior manager.

- Experience of using design to deliver high quality content.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of levels - from colleagues to business leaders.
