Job Overview :

The Head of Valuation is responsible for overseeing and leading the valuation department within an organization. This role involves managing a team of valuation professionals, developing valuation methodologies, and ensuring the accurate assessment of assets, investments, or businesses. The primary goal is to provide accurate and timely valuations to support strategic decision-making, financial reporting, and investment strategies.

Requirements/ Qualifications :

- Professional qualification in Finance or Accounting (CA and/ or CFA)

- Extensive experience of 6-8 years in valuation, with a track record of managing valuation teams (preferably prior Big-5 experience)

- Strong knowledge of IndAS - Indian Accounting standards and IFRS

- Complete knowledge of International Valuation Standards (IVS), along with valuation standards published by ICAI

- Strong understanding of valuation methodologies, financial modeling, and financial analysis.

- A commercial outlook and a good understanding of the general business, economic environment, and sound commercial acumen

- Command in using research databases such as Capital IQ, Thomson Reuters, VCCEdge, Bloomberg among others and familiarity with valuation software and tools.

- Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to manage confidential, sensitive information and time management

Key Responsibilities :

Asset Valuation :

- Oversee the valuation of various assets, including business, financial instruments, intellectual property, and other tangible/intangible asset

- Working knowledge and experience for valuation of various Intangible Assets - using internationally accepted methods such as MPEEM, RFR, With-and-without, distributor method, greenfield method etc

- Valuation of Startups using various methods such as Berkus, Venture Capital Method, First Chicago Method, Scorecard Method, Risk Factor Summation Method, Backsolve Method etc

- Performing valuation analysis on a wide range of public and private entities within various industries using accepted and relevant approaches and theory

- Conduct due diligence on potential investments or divestitures to assess their fair value and potential impact on the organization.

- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to valuation.

Reporting :

- Reporting and presenting analyses and conclusions including written reports

- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, US GAAP), relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to valuation and regulatory requirements

- Maintain thorough and organized documentation of valuation processes and decisions.

Relationships :

- Independently gathering data pertinent to the engagement through client interactions, including face-to-face meetings and client site visits

- Working with management in building and maintaining client relationships

- Identifying and communicating potential engagements to management and writing engagement letters. Managing administrative responsibilities towards the engagement such as code creation, reporting and invoicing.

- Designing financial models for discounted cash flow, market multiple, market transaction, and option pricing analysis

- Contributing directly to the development of proposals, presentations and publications

Risk Management :

- Identify and assess risks associated with various valuation processes and assets.

- Develop risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization's interests.
