UX Manager - Product Development Company
Position Description :
Responsible for :
- Assigned Design and Experience (DX) team members Works with: Senior stakeholders throughout the business, Product Managers, Engineers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Quality Assurance, Technical Communications, Employees and other DX Team Members.

Purpose :
- To lead assigned Design and Experience (DX) team members, to drive experience throughout the business.
- Assist the Design and Experience team in providing efficient and effective analysis, design and evaluation of customer / user experiences.
- This is accomplished through the provision of interaction design and subject matter expertise as well as the administration and analysis of usability evaluations and field studies.
- This includes day-to-day decisions relevant to the provision of analysis, design and evaluation of functions as well as evolving design concepts.
Key Responsibilities :
Work and Time Management :
- Proactively work with Product Manager to clarify business requirements and features. It is important to perform due diligence on requirements, identify missing items and conduct informal or formal task analysis with representatives from within the company and (where possible) with users from the target market segment.
- Work with DX team members, PD Managers, Project Managers and Product Managers to produce project estimates and plans by analyzing and clarifying requirements, Identifying and producing estimates for tasks including response to detailed business requirements, task analysis, usability testing and individual UI specifications.
- Mentor DX Designers on a day-to-day basis in accordance with KPIs for their own professional development and with the aim of improving their technical and analytical skills.
- Schedule and ensure peer reviews are conducted on prototypes or UI specifications.
- When leading a project, allocate tasks to other DX team members in accordance with project plans ensuring that all team members have a manageable work load and that assigned work is in line with planned milestones.
- Track and report on planned work versus actual, recognizing and reporting risks to the project tasks.
- Effectively work simultaneously on more than one project without compromising quality. Maintain a sense of priority when projects are concurrent.
Customer / User Needs Analysis :
- Perform research and/or competitive analysis.
- Develop user scenarios, Consolidate user experience requirements.
- Liaise closely with mission critical areas of the business including user experience designers, business analysts, developers,
- Product managers and marketing to ensure that deliverables meets the needs of our constituents.
- Develop conceptual models.
- Write and specify user profiles, interaction standards and styles, user goals and task analysis. - Utilize the latest user-centered analysis and design techniques.
Create Prototypes :
- Lead low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototyping processes in terms of workshop development, requirements capture and liaison with stakeholders including other DX team members. Where possible, create the actual prototypes.

Create Products/Applications :
- Develop and refine wireframes as a form of UI & interaction requirements documentation.
- Develop navigation maps and workflows.
- Provide all necessary assistance to the PD teams during key phases, ensuring a collaborative customer / user experience deliverable is produced.
- Develop UI Specifications.
Evaluate Products/Applications :
- Plan evaluation sessions, select appropriate candidates and facilitate the user sessions.
- Conduct heuristic evaluations and inspections based on industry standards and guidelines.
- Conduct summative usability evaluations as part of a product and/or website audit and quality control process.
- Publish User Experience evaluation reports, highlighting potential severity 1 & 2 issues along with corrective action recommendations.
- Protocols analysed and archived from evaluations.
- Conduct regular evaluations of competitor products.
- Distribute relevant information to fellow team members (across PD) and Product Managers. Also ensure that customer needs and motivations are integrated into the design of new features and functionality and that relevant risks have been identified when making tradeoffs
