Organizational Overview:

IFMR Finance Foundation (http://foundation.ifmr.co.in - IFF) is an organisation working in area of financial inclusion. We do this by addressing key gaps in the Indian financial system that are constraining access. We are part of the IFMR group of companies (www.ifmr.co.in) & research centres (http://ifmr.ac.in/researchcenters.html). One of the key areas that we work in is development and financing of public infrastructure in small and medium sized cities.

JOB OBJECTIVE

This job will focus on developing a long-term vision for the historical city of Srirangapatna ; Karnataka; India- focused on issues of land, water and housing. Based on the outcome of a deep participatory planning and visioning exercise with local stakeholders, we will seek to design projects and financing mechanisms to enable sustainable investments in these areas.We would implement these projects in partnership with the local government.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Developing models for sustainable financing of urban infrastructure projects viz. Housing, water, using Srirangapatnam town as a basket case. This would involve the following:

- Conducting workshops with local stakeholders for infrastructure need assessment. (S/he would be responsible for getting on board stakeholders – citizens, community leaders, citizen representatives and relevant government officials involved) Conduct number of workshops to ensure that all stakeholder views are taken into consideration.

- Analyse the outcomes of the needs assessment process and determine the types of infrastructure investment required

- Develop models for sustainably financing the infrastructure investments as identified

- Work with local government in raising funding for the infrastructure projects

- Work with citizens and local government to implement projects agreed upon.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

- Ability to bring together multiple stakeholders for the needs assessment process.

- Quality of the needs assessment process.

- Development of models for infrastructure financing.

- Stakeholders (Citizens, local government) buy in for the identified infrastructure projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Graduate with 4~5 relevant work experience or Post Graduation with 3 years work experience.

Relevant Experience:

- Work in urban planning.

- Community mobilization experience in urban issues.

Linguistic ability

- Kannada & English- read, write and speak.
