Uplan - Data Scientist - Startup

Data scientist at an idea stage startup

We are looking for an early hire for a startup to work on building machine learning driven regression models. We expect the person to be an independent contributor in the short to mid term horizon.

Non-technical skill sets we are looking for -

1) Understand business problems and create feasible solutions to achieve end objectives

2) Should have experience(or mindset) to handle end to end of a model building process - data collection, data handling, modelling,interpretation, presentation, production etc

3) Should be able to work independently and along with a team

Technical skill sets (or inclination) we are looking for -

1) Predictive modelling experience

2) Regression modelling, nearest neighbor, geographic data, machine learning, neural networks

3) Languages - Python, R preferred

5) Willingness to learn new methodologies for problem solving

Who should apply - Trying to list here some of the critical success factors in this role

1) Ability to work in unstructured setup - Currently we are in a highly unstructured environment - unstructured data, solutions, approach etc. So handling ambiguity is key in this role.

2) Seamless interlinking of business and data science perspective.

3) We don't expect you to know everything. We expect you to know enough to figure out the rest on your own.

4) Coding experience can be a plus point but not a hurdle. You should know enough to code the initial model well.

About the startup - We are an idea stage startup by a team consisting of Ex IIM, Duke etc.

The hired teammate would be given Equity + Basic salary for the next 1-2 months period till we raise funds. Post which expect market salaries
