- University staff (academic and professional) involved in international student recruitment and admissions
- University of Adelaide College and other pathway providers
- External stakeholders such as the Department of Home Affairs, Austrade and StudyAdelaide
- Kaplan International staff
POSITION SUMMARY :
- Student Recruitment and Admissions Services (SRAS) is responsible for ensuring the University is able to recruit and admit high quality students to its programs from a wide range of markets domestically and internationally.
- India is a major source market for international students for the University of Adelaide. The In-country Representatives of the University of Adelaide based in India have a primary function to support the work of SRAS locally in India. Under the direction of the Country Manager (South Asia) based in Adelaide and in the employ of Kaplan International, the In-Country Representatives contribute to the work of SRAS by participating in recruitment activities and events, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in India, providing reports to SRAS regarding performance against recruitment targets and strategies, advising prospective students, parents and high school counsellors about study opportunities at the University, and assist with the development and maintenance of marketing collateral, website, social media channels and publications.
- The University has contracted Kaplan International to provide a legal and administrative framework for the employment of its in-country representatives in India.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
International Student Recruitment:
- Support the Manager, International Recruitment and the Country Manager (South Asia) to implement marketing and recruitment activities inIndia, with occasional work in other countries in the region
- Contribute to meeting the annual international student recruitment targets as set by SRAS
- Contribute to the development of the SRAS international student recruitment strategy, providing marketintelligence and reportsto support decision-making
- Represent the University at recruitment fairs, exhibitions, agent interview programs and other forumsas directed
- Provide face-to-face advice about study opportunities at the University to prospective international studentsand their parents as required
- Assist in theimplementation of the University's conversion strategies
- Assist in the development, maintenance, review and improvement of effective marketing tools to promote the University to prospective international studentsin India, including publications, website and social media channels
- Provide support to staff from the University as required during their visits to the region
- Provide regular reports to SRAS on activities undertaken and performance in relation to meeting agreed recruitment targets
- Undertake extensive travel within India as required and occasional travel to Adelaide
Stakeholder Relations :
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of University and Faculty staff to support the University's international recruitment strategy in India
- Maintain close collaborative working relationships with University business partners including agents, universities, schools, sponsoring bodies and government agencies to facilitate the recruitment of students to the University from India
- Devise a program of regular visits to stakeholders in order to provide support and train new staff as required
Enquiry Management and General Administrative Support :
- Respond to enquiries from prospective students, parents and agents made via phone, email and social media
- Provide other administrative support as required
Other reasonable duties commensurate with classification level.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA :
Knowledge and Experience:
1. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the international tertiary student market.
2. Demonstrated marketing and recruitment skills, and ability to apply these skills to promote the University and its programs to prospective international students.
3. Proven highly-developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to make effective presentations and produce high quality written documents and reports.
4. Demonstrated effective cross-cultural communication skills.
5. Proven interpersonal and liaison skills in building effective collaborative working relationships with various external stakeholders.
6. Demonstrated initiative and drive and the ability to work constructively both independently and in a small team.
7. A willingness and capacity to undertake extensive domestic travel in India and occasional travel to other countries in the region on behalf of the University.
8. A high level of fluency in English and the ability to conduct basic communication in other relevant languages.
9. Extensive knowledge of the education system in India (desirable).
Qualification/s:
10. A university degree, preferably from an Australian university, ora university degree together with extensive demonstrated knowledge about the Australian higher education system.
