About Unity:

Unity Small Finance Bank is one of the few SFBs with a growing Non-SLR book and an active trading strategy. The Lead for Counterparty Credit Risk Management will be part of the Market Risk team and will have the primary responsibility to manage the review and recommendation of issuer limits across a range of counterparties including Banks, NBFIs and corporates. He/she will also be responsible for the regular review of limits, tracking of adverse news, monitoring of breaches and stress testing on the overall portfolio.

The role reports into the Head of Market Risk, who in turn, reports into the CRO.

Role description:

- Responsible for the evaluation and recommendation of counterparty credit limits (for investment in debt securities by the Treasury front office) to the Bank's investment Committee (IC). Review, vet and analyze proposals submitted by the Treasury front office for new/incremental limits across a range of issuers including Banks, NBFCs and corporates.

- Ensure that all limits are reviewed annually and that limit utilizations are monitored daily in line with internal limits and IC approvals.

- Drive the proactive management of limits, with the front office, to ensure compliance. Reporting of limit breaches, as and when, along with a plan for regularization.

- Periodic review of the credit risk rating scorecards, minimum spreads on market instruments and portfolio caps at a sector and industry level.

- Responsibility for periodic stress testing and back testing of the portfolio.

- Review and recommendation of notes submitted by the Business for equity exposure/investment in IPOs, from time to time.

- Periodic credit research with a focus on macro-economic research (focusing on interest rates and debt markets).

- Participate in the preparation of monthly portfolio reviews for presentations to the management team.

- Initiate the annual review of relevant policies to align with changing regulations.

- Join client calls/discussions with the Business as and when required.

Requirements:

- CA/MBA/CFA with a minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience in counterparty credit analysis and review.

- Must be part of a Risk Team within the Treasury Mid-Office or Market Risk (other business segments are not relevant to this role).

- Sectoral expertise in the review of Financial Institutions credit risk with a focus on Banks and NBFCs.

- Sound understanding of debt capital markets. Exposure/understanding of equity research will be an added advantage.

- Strong background in financial analysis and excellent written communication skills.
