Job Description :

- The Product Engineering & Data Services team at Optum Global Solutions (OGS), which is part of the OGS Technology organization, has grown over the years to 1,700 people, supporting the Optum Insight products organization, and the UnitedHealthcare technology needs in the data engineering space.

- The overall work is split almost evenly between the US and the rest of the world. The Product Engineering team has about 700-800 FTE, supporting and working on about 20 or so product lines. The maturity of product ownership within this set of products varies, from pure staffing through to component ownership resident in India.

- Broadly, the Product Engineering team is organised by business lines (e.g. Payer, Provider, etc.). The Data Services team of about 700-800 people helps engineer, support, and make enhancements to the Enterprise Data Warehouse, provide the technical know-how for delivering Analytics and Insight through the Big Data platforms used by the company, and also support some analytics-based products taken to market by Optum.

- OGS is looking to bring on board a senior technology leader to spearhead the Product Engineering & Data Services organization in India, with the key responsibility for evangelizing the product engineering capability globally, creating additional value-added propositions for Optum and UHC, and inspiring confidence in global stakeholders to evolve the engineering practices over time and transfer greater ownership of their product lifecycle requirements to our global locations in India and Ireland.

- In this role, the Vice President, Product Engineering & Data Services will be required to take complete ownership of product engineering/delivery and continuously improve processes.

- S/he will be accountable for building high level functional capabilities that extend beyond engineering - ie, Product Architecture through to Engineering Delivery and Product Management / Product Strategy. Importantly, s/he will be required to closely collaborate with internal stakeholders to increase the value share of work done in India, and will own the capability-building effort towards that goal.

Qualification :

- 15 + years of software product development experience working on commercially available software

- Demonstrated product development mindset and experience with ground-up product development (with special emphasis on accountability and transparency)

- Track record of success using modern processes and tools, including Agile/SAFE, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, etc.

- Successful track record of delivering innovative software products to market

- Demonstrated collaboration skills and techniques to create innovative market leading solutions

- Excellent time management, communication, decision making and presentation skills

- 10 + years of direct people leadership experience

- Experience leading and managing globally distributed teams of 1000 or more people (including team members in India)

- Successful history fostering collaboration and trust across geographically disbursed teams

- Prior experience building high performing teams, including hiring and developing leaders

- Proven leadership and strategic management skills

- Demonstrated success acting as a change agent up, down and across the organization

- Previous Healthcare market experience desired

- Experiences with both Provider and Payer markets preferred-

- Understanding of Big Data solutions of value

- BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent education/experience, Master degree is desirable
