Job Description : General Purpose - The Coding Manager plans, organizes, directs, and controls day-to-day operations of the Coding Department while working with the coding teams and with the leadership to drive the organization business success.
- Manages the dashboards ensuring the productivity and quality of the projects and supports all the upcoming businesses.
Job Responsibilities :
- Management Hire personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations.
- Counsel employees in performance improvement.
- Conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and coordination of employee schedules for adequate coverage
- Coach coding staff on coding expectations and meeting goals related to both quality and productivity.
- Promote morale by effectively communicating goals, standards, and needs of the department and organization.
- Foster an environment of teamwork and service excellence within the department
- Train new coders and cross train in new areas.
- Participate in performance improvement activities compliance.
- Develop, implement and monitor policies and procedures, guidelines, and coding compliance plan for coding.
Ongoing quality assessment : Perform audits for compliance, maintain the accuracy of coding performed,oversee the capture and analysis of data regarding operational performance and quality control, ensure all-coding is completed with quality and regulatory compliance as the primary objective
- Develop reasonable productivity measures for coding of medical records while balancing quality and-compliance productivity.
- Experience with benchmarking performance and/or standards against identified criteria. Create a plan of-action for improvements as needed.
- Work and communicate with all departments operationally.
- Review workflow and processes and balance workload in coding department to meet targets.
- Monitor coding systems to ensure optimal performance. Recommend upgrades or changes to current-system and participate in selection of new systems.
- Ensure records are coded within established guidelines and corporate requirements while still maintaining-quality
- Ensure proper staffing and distribution of assignments
- Acts as a resource for the coding staff as well as serves as a liaison in the organization to address coding-related issues and questions
- Disseminates changes in coding rules such as correct coding initiative and Coding Clinic. Monitor changes-in laws, regulations, and policies that impact clinical documentation, reimbursement and coding to assure-compliance
- Oversee coding education by preparing and completing materials for internal and external audits, regulatory-changes, and other changes in medical advancements
- Ability to utilize coding/abstracting systems and ensure that appropriate computer systems are updated with
- The annual code changes and any other associated changes or updates.
- Manages and monitor operating budget for the coding section
- Provide leadership for process improvement and redesign to improve customer satisfaction, reduce costs,and/or meet departmental and institutional goals and objectives.

Qualification - Required Skill Set :
- Should have worked as a manager handling minimum of 40 coders for a period of not less than 5 years with hands-on coding experience.
- Should be a certified coder AAPC / AHIMA / CCS/CPC/CPC-H/CCS-P-Should have excellent communication skills.
- Should have handled transitions and client relationship.-Training and domain expertise would be an added advantage.
