Job Description/Details of Responsibilities / Purpose of Job :
The prospective candidate will be part of a team assisting Regulatory Accounting & Reporting, a division of Regulatory Finance - UHC with the following responsibilities :
- Preparation of Quarterly & Annual Statutory Reports
- Prepare Analytical reports & document findings from the Analysis
- Support the Premium Deficiency Reserve (PDR) Process
- Maintain Internal controls and support regulatory and statutory audits
- Work on adhoc projects
Job Components :
Part 2 Filings - Quarterly/Annual
- Analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close.
- Reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles.
- Analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position.
- Prepare Part 2 Schedules for quarterly and annual filings
- Prepare supplemental exhibits for quarterly and annual filings
- Prepare Footnote 25 a supplemental NAIC exhibit necessary for the regulatory filings
- Prepare additional medical claims support "R File" for UHIC-CT and UHIC-NY legal entities
PDR Qtrly
- Prepare base models and coordinate actuary review
- Coordinate process and communication
- Request/monitor general ledger to ensure adjustments are recorded either in GAAP or STAT correctly
- Legal Entity Governance
- Assist with or lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups
- Monitor claim accounting exceptions (monthly) and report any issues to GAAP accounting team
- Develop monthly legal entity claims variance commentary to be distributed to the regulatory accounting teams
Inter segment Governance
- Ensure Inter segment Paid Claims and Reserves follow approved contracts restatements run by legal entity and product / segment
Adhoc As Needed
- Prepare documentation id support of external and internal audits
- Collaborate during reporting and non reporting periods with other UHG departments, Legal Entity CEO & CFO, and external parties to resolve Legal Entity inquiries.

Qualification - Qualification : CA / CPA
Required Skills :
- Exposure to US Insurance Financial Reporting preferred (or at least US GAAP Reporting)
- Thorough understanding of Accounting, General Ledger and chart-field attributes
- Ability to work under extremely tight deadlines and should be self driven in nature with minimal supervision on day to day activities
- Excellent oral and written communication
Interpersonal skills :
- Attention to details and accuracy with analytical bent
- Deliver Quality Results
- Working knowledge of software tools ( Ex: MS Excel, PeopleSoft, PDF, Access etc.)
- Ability to take direction and work on their own
- High degree of Analytical acumen
- Ability to manipulate and synthesize large amount of data
Experience:
- Experience in US GAAP or US Insurance Financial Reporting for 2 years. Overall experience should be 7-8 years post qualification
- Experience in participating and leading project work - Preferred
Work Hours : Should be ready to work approximately 50-60 hours per week during peak quarter-end periods, and an estimated 40-45 hours per week during the remainder of the year
