Job Description - Primary Responsibilities:

- Provide database administration for mission-critical custom and packaged database software

- Design storage strategies around backup and recovery for complex database environments, physical structures, and specialized database applications/systems

- Uphold enterprise policy guidelines and recommend new/improved guidelines

- Partner with project teams and interact with customers to find solutions for projects and operational issues for existing and proposed databases

- Act as a liaison serving as primary point of contact between application business segments and database administrators

- Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to perform in all of the basic database management skills of database administration, Web connectivity, physical structure, overall architecture, and database analysis

- Provide standardization and consistency across environments

- Ensure a stable and secure database environment

- Implement and monitor database functionality to ensure stable environments

- Identify and initiate resolutions to user problems and concerns associated with database server equipment (hardware and software)

- Anticipate customer needs and proactively develop solutions to meet them

- Serve as a key resource on complex and/or critical issues

- Solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions

- Perform complex conceptual analyses

- Review work performed by others and provides recommendations for improvement

- Forecast and plan resource requirements

- Review the work of others

- Develop innovative approaches

- Serve as Subject Matter Expert

- Serve as a leader/mentor

- Managing daily, Weekly and monthly administration tasks for Apps/Core Database.

- Should have worked on various Database Versions

- Experience with clustering technologies from different vendors

- Extensive hands on interaction with large Database management systems

- Should have worked extensively on Database Upgrades/ Platform Migrations/Backup and Recovery.

- Should have excellent Knowledge on Database Tuning and SQL Tuning.

- Apps database DR setup and its ongoing maintenance.

- Carry out DR Drills independently at regular interval of time and do required planning / coordination

- Managing Database and application logs.

- Managing batch jobs/Concurrent Manager

- Problem management and provide workaround in crisis situations.

- Managing listener and connectivity of database.

- Managing minor configuration changes

- Managing database statistics.

- Executing processes as per schedules for manual execution.

- Space management and storage organization.

- Managing database I\O

- Database integrity management.

- Coordinate with db global support organization on pending service requests.

- Applying changes to production after approval by change management team.

- Managing planned downtimes and ensuring that time window is not breached.

- Maintaining forms and reports parameters for application server

- General UNIX/Linux/Windows concepts & Administration
