Responsibilities in this role include:

- Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.

- Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close.

- Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles.

- Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits.

- Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation.

- Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position.

- Assist with or lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups

- Performs work in a self-directed manner and works with less structured, more complex issues.

- Serve as a resource to others.

Details of Responsibilities / Purpose of Job:

This position requires the candidate to have a good understanding of Revenue recognition concepts, and US GAAP. He/She should in this position would need to look at the contracts ( Domestic and International contracts), build the revenue documentation/process creation and recognize revenue. Understand from service standpoint how revenue recognition to be done

.Job Components:

- Commercial revenue accounting to support ongoing Optum IT externalization agenda

- Reviews contracts and ensure that revenue recognition is being done as per laid out accounting policy

- Understand from service standpoint how revenue recognition to be done

- Completing revenue recognition template & doing JEs ( Accrual Journals, FX journals, reclass etc. )

- Require to do IOI, intersegment revenue, Margin recognition

- Prepare Revenue forecast reports for Senior Management

- Reviews general ledger on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of posting.

- Produces quarterly and annual financial statements and ad hoc financial reports

Required Skills :

- Master in Commerce/CA/CWA

- Minimum of 7 + yrs. of experience in Revenue Accounting

- Strong Accounting Background, Understanding of US GAAP revenue recognition principles

- Ability to develop and establish financial polices and procedures

- Good understanding of General Ledger and chart field attributes

- Ability to analyze financial data and to prepare accurate reports

- Good understanding of FX accounting and its impact

- Someone who is not afraid to ask questions, chase folks and ensure tasks are being completed on time- Good Interpersonal skills and Analytical skills

- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally- Working knowledge on Excel, Essbase and PeopleSoft

- Make Fact-Based Decisions

- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement and to react with discretion under varying conditions

Good to have Skills :

- Prior Healthcare experience in Finance and Accounting

- Prior work experience on GL

Qualification:

- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent

- 4+ years of professional accounting experience.-Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements

- Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements.

- Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems.

- Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses.
