Responsibilities in this role include :
- Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.
- Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close.
- Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles.
- Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits.
- Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation.
- Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position.
- Assist with or lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups
- Performs work in a self-directed manner and works with less structured, more complex issues.
- Serve as a resource to others.
Responsibilities :
- Frequency Timelines Remarks Rate Loading / Approval Process Support Annual July - Feb Supply data management support, reconciliations, and aid in other data validation processes
- Mapping rate to legal entity (BU-OU-Product-Location Code) triggers creation of unique rate identifier (MT ID)
- Annual July - Feb creating 'BU-OU-Product-Location Code' to ensure appropriate inter segment accounting through IIPAS MTID updates
- Monthly last week of month Due to contract changes, new sales, or other business events rates need to be actively managed/maintained on a monthly basis
- MTID Validation of rates to membership Monthly 2nd week - last week of the month
- Ensure that membership is appropriately aligned to rates AD Hoc Reporting
- Understanding various IIPAS accounting reports to be able to comment on revenue and expense related questions
- Monthly Typically during the close but may flow in across the month- Queries raised by UHC leadership or Optum segment owners questions like reason for changes in the BU's revenue or expense, product membership, or product revenue
- Other Traits Business Analyst role with accounting experience and experience in bulk data processing/reconciliation/reporting from various sources and database platforms so good understanding of various database or data warehouse would help.
- In Summary this position would need accounting, analysis and data churn exp. In nutshell this is like preparing JE through a IIPAS system.
- Assist with or lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups Analyzes and investigates financial information.
- Provide explanations and interpretations within area of expertise.
Requirements :
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting 7 Years of relevant experience (out of which 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience)
- Proficiency in MS Excel & MS Access knowledge Essbase reporting knowledge
- Should have dealt with various database

Intermediate proficiency with MS PowerPoint Health care experience a plus
Work Hours : Steady State Operating hours - 2.30 PM to 12 AM India Time (CST 3 AM to 12.30 PM with day light & 4 AM to 1.30 PM w/o day light)During Month end/Quarter end/Year end map US hours (5.30 AM CST to 3 PM CST); Also map US hours during Transition (4 months)

Qualification :
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
- 4+ years of professional accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
- Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements.
- Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems.
- Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses.
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint Technology Careers with Optum. Information and technology have amazing power to transform the health care industry and improve people's lives.
