Responsibilities in this role include :
- Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.
- Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close.-Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles.
- Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits.
- Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation.
- Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position.
- Assist with or lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups
Position Description : As an accountant within UHC Financial Data Management team, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accuracy of the claims data used in UHC accounting, reserving, and regulatory processes, as it flows through various accounting systems.
Primary Responsibilities : Daily GL detail reconciliation (Data flow validation) for E&I, M&R and C&S ledger data
Including researching and resolving any variances
- Daily tracking the arrival of claims data into FSDB (Flatfile Streaming Database) and reviewing it for reasonableness (Student Resources, River Valley, Sierra, PHS, Oxford, CSP, Diamond, Unison) Including working with various UHG IT Operations & Maintenance (SS&S) teams
- when the FSDB data is inaccurate, incomplete or late Triggering RPS for many of the FSDB claims platforms Including working with various UHG IT Operations & Maintenance (SS&S) teams when data is late Annual update of the necessary parameter files in IBM DB2, Oxford Oracle, and COSMOS.
- Preparing the paid claim reconciliation necessary for our SOX controls (PHS, Oxford, COSMOS) at LCD-10 and LCD Quarterly regulatory support Audit support, annual and ad hoc
Qualifications :
- Bachelor in Accounting or equivalent courses
- 4-6 years of Accounting & Reporting experience (especially exposure to work with large volumes of data)
Skills required :
- Should be ready and able to learn and implement basic query writing in SQL in SAS environment, if taught Proficient MS Excel skills including pivot tables
- Basic query knowledge in MS ACCESS2+ years working with data extract tools.
- This job will use SAS and Toad. Attention to detail
- Ability to coordinate with various groups to get issues resolved Proven problem solving and research skills
- Proficient in written and verbal communication
- Worked in an environment that is more transactional and dealt with huge volumes of dataAssets: Query writing in SQL in SAS environment Query writing in MS ACCESS
- Work Hours:2.30 PM to 12.00 AM Indian Standard Time (IST) or 4.00 AM to 1.30 PM Central Standard Time (with Daylight saving).
- Since the candidate is expected to work on large volumes of data and manage data flow into various organizational systems, he/she should be really flexible in working hours (Ex. At times they may need to work during weekends depending on the Systems Schedule)
