India operations of UHG are aligned to Optum. The Advanced Research & Analytics (ARA) team, part of Optum, is involved in developing broad-based and targeted analytics solutions across different verticals for all lines of business.
Roles and Responsibilities :
- Work closely with Actuarial analysts and Rating analysts as lead on all the regular Actuarial & Underwriting engagements
- As part of HCE competency center actively participate in research projects along with various HCE initiatives from- ideation, frame work design to development & implementation
- Hands on experience in data analytics, using SAS, to guide and actively participate in data preparation and analysis
- Ensure high sense of project ownership
- Ensure timely and proper communication to Business Partners and Leaders
- Identify opportunity areas within Actuarial and Underwriting teams for improving existing analytical solutions or suggesting new solutions
- Work with the HCE & Actuarial business teams to operationalize various analytics initiatives & solutions
- Engage in communications with business partners for all important functions associated with the new engagements and, projects including data understanding, solution design etc.
- Team management: Includes but is not limited to utilization management, expectation setting, issue resolution, information flow, mentoring, team bonding activities etc.
- Participate in client meetings as SME and identify upcoming changes in healthcare environment

Qualification - Qualifications :
- 5+ years of experience in Actuarial industry (preferably health insurance)
- Education Level: Post-Graduation in Actuarial Science / Statistics / Mathematics / Economics / Finance
- Actuarial qualification: Minimum 5 Core technical papers (Preferably CT1,CT3,CT4,CT5 & CT6)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent problem solving abilities
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating good level of maturity
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills
- Professional, service oriented, proactive and flexible
- Good knowledge of MS Office
- Hands on experience of analytics tools such as SAS/R/SQL is preferred (not mandatory)
- Knowledge of US Health Insurance industry is preferred
