Responsibilities in this role include :
- Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.
- Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close.
- Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles.
- Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits.
- Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation.
- Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position.
- Assist with or lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups
Primary Responsibilities :
- Perform claims tie-out to reserving files to ensure data accuracy and integrity In conjunction with actuaries and management team (segment CFOs), adjust the monthly claim reserve estimates by market and by entity Calculate, analyze and explain medical cost reserves for assigned products and market Maintain medical reserving (IBNR) models on a monthly basis, including update of factors to be used in the model (Ex. seasonality and unit cost data)
- Prepare analysis of catastrophic claims activity and special adjustments for consideration in reserving process Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close
- Prepare monthly management summary reports of medical retro-activity by Type of Service, date of service and reason code Prepare reserve adjustment journal entries Prepare schedules along with commentary on variances for market review
- Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
- Assist with the month end / quarter end close process for assigned businesses or groups Run and analyze system queries / reports Provide explanations and interpretations within area of expertise
Qualifications :
- Graduate or Post-Graduate in Accounting 5-7 years of Accounting & Reporting experience
Skills required :
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel Demonstrates good understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
- Attention to detail and understands the reporting requirement for integrity of the general ledger string (legal entity, location, date of service, etc.)
- Analytical mindset Inclination towards looking at different data-sets / relevant tools / statistical models / completion factors (average cost PMPM, claims history run-out) to a great extent before arriving at a judgment or an estimate Communicates in an effective manner
- Collaborates with peers to complete projects Works independently to complete assigned tasks
- Demonstrates the drive and motivation to deliver high quality results based on thorough analysis Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analysis
- Should be a very good team player
- Access database query knowledge preferable Possess an understanding of medical reserving processes and the importance of reporting of medical results on a restated basis Insurance Financial reporting/accounting experience
Work Hours :
- 2.30 PM to 12.00 AM India Standard Time / 4.00 AM to 1.30 PM Central Standard Time (with day light saving) and should be flexible to work in US shift (6 PM to 3 AM India Standard Time) during peak/close periods for 4-5 work days

Qualification :
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent, 2+ year of accounting experience
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements-Communicates in an effective manner
- Collaborates with peers to complete projects
- Demonstrates the drive and motivation to deliver high quality results based on thorough analysis-Possesses sound business knowledge and strong decision making skills.
