Responsibilities in this role include :

- Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.

- Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close.

- Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles.

- Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits.

- Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation.

- Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position.

- Assist with or lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups Standard

Job Description : Grade 25 Accountant : Functional Description :

- Maintains general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.

- Completes complex account reconciliations. Performs account reconciliation review and analysis.

- Performs statutory filing review and analysis.

- Prepares journal entries and reviews accounting classifications in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

- Analyzes and prepares financials statements.

- Provides explanations using pertinent data and facts to identify and solve a range of problems within revenue and membership reporting.

- Ability to data mine analyze large amounts of data quickly and efficiently to identify driver of variances or discrepancies in the data.

- Involved in the monthly and quarterly close process.

- Prepares documentation in support of external and internal audits.

- Prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.

- Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements.

-Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems.

- Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analysis.

- Works with minimal guidance, seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks and required to work directly with other areas.

- Translates concepts into practice.

- Provides explanations and information to other on difficult issues.

- Coaches, provides feedback and guides others.

- Acts as resource for others with less experience.

- Proactively communicates issues or barriers to completing assigned job duties.

- Demonstrates personal ownership and accountability to drive resolution to completion.

- Independently coordinate and work with other internal areas to find the best solution to resolve issues and improve processes (i.e.: leading cross functional meetings, identifying Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in other areas, coordinating discovery sessions to identify root cause of issues & making suggestions on how to resolve complex issues).

Background/Experience :

- Bachelor degree in Accounting (preferred)/Finance or equivalent experience.

- 3+ years of accounting experience.

- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements.

- Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to speak effectively to different levels.

- Ability to assess and interpret customer needs and requirements.

- Ability to identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems.

- Collaborates with peers to complete projects. Acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and supports User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

- Demonstrates the drive and motivation to deliver high quality results based on thorough analysis.

- Possesses sound business knowledge and decision making skills.

- Advanced level of proficiency with MS Excel and Intermediate to Advanced level of proficiency with MS Access.

- Displays initiative when assuming new tasks and completing ad hoc assignments including accepting ownership of the task.
