ROLE PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE :
1. This is an important position that will drive this business in the respective Region. The position is responsible for overall growth and success of the Working Capital business in the Region.
2. Underwriting of Working Capital - Fund Based & Non-Fund Based customers for Facility amount up to 10 Cr
3. Implement robust credit underwriting policies and processes for large ticket size MSME loans in the region and ensure that the processes/policies are effectively managed on the field
4. Conduct income appraisal and working capital gap of MSME borrowers. In depth understanding and analysis of P & L Account and Balance Sheet including cash flows of self-employed borrowers.
5. Ratio analysis of financials and loans for lending to self-employed customers.
6. Responsible for underwriting and building quality secured portfolio.
7. Engage with Risk committee to monitor credit risk and ensure Risk is managed proactively, involve in IDM (Inter Departmental Meeting), Risk Committee meetings, Audit closure meeting
8. Work closely with Business and Collections team to manage collections in different buckets at the field
9. Manage cost and productivity of team and vendors.
10. Oversees the performance of the MSME Working Capital portfolio of his/her in terms of growth (amount and client base)
11. Identification of location for business and hiring of resources for the Credit team
12. Participate in review and budget preparation with Profit and loss responsibility of the department.
13. In coordination with the branch, credit & product teams, identifies suitable branches and locations for MSME business and gets the locations activated. Ensures proper goal setting, resource planning, marketing of MSME business.
14. Product knowledge at market level & market Segment is necessary.
SIZE OF THE ROLE :
FINANCIAL SIZE :
- Portfolio size of 250 - 500 Cr
NON-FINANCIAL SIZE :
- Managing and tracking Team performance
- Vendor management (legal, technical etc.)
- Multiple Fund Based and Non Fund Based Offerings
- 80-100 files per month for the region
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE :
Business/ Financials :
- Underwriting target customer of working capital segment with detailed review.
- Daily/ Weekly /Monthly monitoring of the accomplishment of underwriting targets according to the annual/monthly targets established and responsibility to provide guidance and solutions to his/her team as required
- Conduct portfolio study of the outstanding advances portfolio, lead credit tightening initiatives to keep delinquencies under control while maintaining a balance view of business profitability across various products and geography
- Supports team in their duties of PDs, risk assessment and recovery strategies
- Ensures efficient staffing by timely recruitment & training
- Approve deviations and exceptions according to policy in place.
- Ensure, supervise the correct implementation of the credit procedures including all the respective tools
- Monitor and ensure Credit related Regulatory and Legal compliances are followed thoroughly by the key role holders in field
- Ensure that negative area reviews are done timely along with Audit and Vigilance team
- Ensure the portfolio quality in excellent category through induction of good quality customers in MSME at the field level
- Identify, highlight and address emerging risks proactively along with the risk and compliance departments
- Conduct periodic reviews with Cluster Credit Managers for driving desirable credit performance
Customer (Both Internal & External ):
- Ensure lower customer attrition by providing different products as per customer requirement.
- Focus on lower TAT as per laid down standards.
- Supervising the team spread in given region for building of a performing portfolio.
- Engage with credit vendors, FCU and other agencies to ensure productivity and cost control.
- Work with Business team, Audit team, Collection team and Risk team for effective risk management
- Engage with Product Management Team for necessary changes in products as per the observations from the field
- Engage with Recruitment Manager for timely recruitment and induction of new employees
- Ensure that credit responds to Customers and branch staff queries and issues timely.
- Co-ordinate with Business team, Collections team and Vigilance team for effective collections management
- Engage with HR to ensure all staffing and training requirements are met in a timely manner
- Ensure the key MISs and reports are effectively delivered to management for managing business, portfolio, team and risk in the field
Internal Process :
- Full adherence to all Regulatory Norms, Internal Policy & Process with respect to Credit & Collections
- Ensure timely submission of compliances as required by internal and external audit
- Implement accountability to address policy/process violations
- Monitor health of portfolio
- Ensure compliance with lending guidelines, quality framework and audit requirements; ensure speedy resolution of any audit observations and take necessary steps to prevent recurrence audit and other regulations.
- Discuss strategies and changes in terms of products, capacity building, procedures etc.
- Regular monthly visits to high ticket clients.
Innovation & Learning :
- Ensure that all members of his team are up to date on all relevant circulars and all products/services offered
- Engage with HR to execute all training programs on Credit Policies and Processes
- Ensure structured induction plan for new joinees, lateral hires and internally promoted candidates
- Evaluate the staff competences in terms of promotion, business assessment and credit risk assessment capacity and propose solutions for improvement
- Ensure adherence to training man-days/ mandatory training programs for self and reportees
- Ensure goal-setting, mid-year review and annual appraisal process within specified timelines for self and reportees
- Monitor performance of staff against defined goals/metrics and take corrective action wherever required; undertake disciplinary and attendance monitoring of the team.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS :
Educational Qualifications : MBA or equivalent / CA
Experience : MBA or equivalent / CA with 8-12 years and for others 12-15 years with 8 Years relevant experience Credit and documentation of loans of which at least 5-6 years in MSME Working Capital business both fund based and non-fund based including OD/CC/WCTL/BG etc. Mixed experience of Credit & Sales is acceptable, but should be predominantly in Credit
Certifications : Relevant certifications shall be an added advantage
Functional Skills :
- Fulfilling the credit training needs of entire Credit team on a continued and timely basis
- Supervising, controlling delinquency and credit loss
- Knowledge of Underwriting of loans (Credit, product & process
- Ability to speak and read regional language(s)- is desirable. Ability to communicate in English (Read-speak-write) is required. Has good verbal fluency and uses simple, clear and purposeful language.
