Category Managers at udaan have an end to end responsibility of the buyer experience and growth of the category they have been assigned to. They work across partner teams to deliver buyer delight by making a vast range of products available to the buyer to discover, buy and resell, at the right prices and delivery commitments. The intent is also to engage with brands to improve Category understanding and design interventions for overall category growth on the platform.

Category managers anticipate buyer needs and incorporate them into the functional road map. Will drive major changes or enhancement for buyer experience influencing category needs based on their knowledge of competitive trends in the marketplace and other macro environment data

Work with product and cataloging teams to launch unique on-App experiences like "Auto-Recommendation", "Auto add to cart", etc

This role has a main purpose of making assortment mix decisions to drive buyer experience, category penetration and revenue.

Key Responsibilities :

Demand Shaping strategies :

- Strategic push on building brands on the platform

- Driving new trends and leveraging for profitable growth

Merchandizing:

- Define merchandizing plan across categories based on Market trends, ACN data, Preferred Portfolio Mix etc.

- Optimize performance across Merchandizing properties (banners, stores, etc.) for Browse & Search traffic

- Facilitate Customer navigation for better product discovery

Selection Design:

- Define Buyer segments and understand selection gaps

- optimize on category/product assortment

Sales:

- Own and drive monthly / weekly sales metrics GMV / ASP

- Drive Upsell / Cross-sell / Premiumization / portfolio management

- Optimize on margin based on RoI analysis across product segments

Offers & Promotions:

- Drive monthly promotion calendar including EDLP, Flash Deals, DoTD etc.

- Design and optimize promos for Sale events, offer zone

Catalog richness:

- Ensure Customer satisfaction on Product Information - data and images

- Define and drive catalog guidelines based on complexity of the category and user inputs

Program Management:

- End to end ownership of defining SOP for Category specific asks

- Work with internal sourcing, quality & design team to track key project milestones, ensure processes are followed for review & reporting of the same

- Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to align, execute and improve upon existing practices and processes

Functional & Competencies:

The successful candidate for this high impact role will be a self-starter with a passion for independent problem-solving, have proven data analysis skills, and have strengths in stakeholder management and negotiations.

- Problem solving: The role needs the individual to be able to solve for a given business problem in sometimes an ambiguous state and with multiple data streams impacting decision making

- Out of the Box Thinking: the role needs someone who can develop solutions to convert buyers (from offline to online), retain buyers and drive category penetration in overall Udaan Buyers

- Data driven / analytical: The role requires the individual to be comfortable in processing and analyzing volume of multiple data streams to drive business cases and outcomes.

- Collaborative skills/Stakeholder Management: The role requires the incumbent to work closely and coordinate with the Internal and external teams to create success. She/he should be able to seamlessly navigate these relationship dynamics in a high growth, young, agile business environment.

- Result orientation: The role is required to work on deliver on daily numbers, short-term goals and long-term milestones set by business and efficacy. Meeting these milestones would be critical to create success.

Qualifications and Experience:

- 2+ years of experience in the Indian Ecommerce/FMCG market in category management roles (FMCG Preferred)

- Demonstrated ability to translate strategies into execution plans and take them to completion

- Demonstrated ability to scale categories on online platforms from scratch

- Is an ecommerce enthusiast and deeply relates with the ability of e-commerce to disrupt the FMCG industry at large

- Passionate and driven individual looking to work with a similar bunch of people!
