Job Title: Transportation Execution Manager

Reports to: RTM Manager/ Infrastructure and Logistics Manager

Job Location: Chennai,Hyderabad

Job Objective: To plan for FG transportation requirements of the Zone and execute the plan, constantly monitor and optimize the freight costs, efficiency and quality of movement of Finished Goods.

Job Responsibilities:

- Transportation Planning: Given the volumes to be moved from various sources to destinations (Inter-plant, plant to depots / distributors / customers and DSD), work out OPTIMAL freight cost plan for the year, taking into account the right load sizes, servicing frequencies and capacity utilization of vehicles AND execute plan.

- Fleet Structure and Vehicle Ownership Mix: Decide on the RIGHT ownership mix of the vehicles, with respect to own fleet, leased fleet (on fixed + variable rate basis, annual or monthly contracts) and spot hiring of vehicles based on seasonality and variation in volumes. Arrange for vehicles based on standard body designs – palletized vehicles, milk run vehicles, DSD vehicles. Do transport negotiations and contracts for the Zone basis right vehicles mix.

- Transportation Cost Management: Analyze freight costs and goods movement data regularly to monitor performance against the initial plan, and plan for further improvements. Monitor PDP compliance, actual load sizes vs standard load sizes, CPC (cost per case) and CPCK (cost per case per km) to identify opportunities for freight improvement. DELIVER freight costs within BP for the year.

Automation and process improvements: System & process improvements to drive transport productivity. E.g.Increase palletized transportation %, to improve truck turnaround times & reduce contract labour. Increase PDP compliance % to target, to reduce freight cost and improve distributor servicing.Implement GPS tracking to identify and reduce time losses in transportation.Use systems like Roadnet / Territory Planner for trucks scheduling and load balancing.

- Develop transport vendors: Review transporters’ profile for the Zone and develop a capable pool of transporters for improving overall service (timely vehicle placements and delivery to destination) and freight costs.

- High Safety and Compliant Transport Operations: Work on improving safety levels in transportation by building awareness, drivers training and implementing systems, processes and standard transport agreements to improve safety in transport. Ensure high compliance levels in transport, in line with contractual obligations and company policies.

Candidate Specification:

- Graduate / Engineer/MBA in Operations / Logistics Mgmt from good institute

- Language knowledge: Hindi, English & Local
