About Us:

Toppr is an adaptive after-school learning app for classes 5th to 12th. Our vision is to make learning personalized using technology. We believe each child is unique with distinct learning needs.

We are building Toppr as an adaptive platform that can increase engagement, optimise learning and improve outcomes. We have the widest syllabus coverage in India with over 20 subjects, 20 boards and 50 exams. Over 40 lakh students use the learning app.

Toppr was started in 2013 by IIT Bombay alumni Zishaan Hayath and Hemanth Goteti and is backed by venture capital firms SAIF, Helion and Eight Roads.

Role Description:

- The role will drive HR processes/initiatives from hiring to employee exit (entire life cycle) Partnering with business stakeholders

- Support client discussions, manage employee escalations/grievances and apply organization policies to support delivery and execute growth programs

- The role will ensure compliance and governance aspects with respect to statutory laws and labor law.

Leadership & Strategy:

- Develop Human Capital Strategy and tactical programs in alignment with priorities of the business

- Support and participate in the business strategy by bringing in the people context

- Define the operational framework for the delivery of services provided by the Cross Entity service delivery teams

- Adapt, communicate and implement the strategic direction of HR operations to ensure adherence to policies and processes

- Drive the programs that future-readies the business viz. leadership development, culture, talent management etc.

Stakeholder Management:

- Build and maintain effective partnerships with stakeholders and Business leaders

- Advise management of the businesses on HR imperatives

- Drive alignment across entities to ensure consistent application of processes, principles and programs

Delivery:

- Ensure the effective delivery of the HR processes - Talent Management, Reward, Capability Development, People Advisory support, Employee life cycle management, Leadership Development, Change Management and Talent Supply Chain processes

- Develop/drive/participate in a broad range of HR processes, primarily by defining requirements, providing business insights, setting priorities, reviewing solutions, providing planning input and communicating to business leadership

- Responsible for collaborating with different parts of the HR organization within and outside the geography and ensure all roles are working to solve for the organization,

- Minimize - silo-thinking, scope conflicts and ensure adherence to the governance model

- Develop and manage HR budgets

- Establish the company salary structure, pay policies, and oversee the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and raises.

- Leads competitive market research to establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staff.

- Monitors all pay practices and systems for effectiveness and cost containment.

- Monitors best practices in compensation and benefits through research and up-to-date information on available products.

Compliance and Risk Management:

- Individually accountable for managing the risk environment of a vertical across processes and locations.

- Responsibilities include liaison with the other risk teams to provide adequate understanding and support to operations and manage entity level risks for labor law, statutory law, overall compliance etc.

- Work closely with senior leadership and stakeholders in the organization and provide assurance by performing process walkthrough, risk assessments and providing adequate governance.

- Ensure adequate governance through risk committees and dashboards to highlight the status of risk and control environment.

- Perform controls testing, management and thematic reviews and socialize themes emerging from the testing and reviews to prevent recurrence.

- Liaise with internal/external auditors and ensure audit preparedness of operation teams. Also, track and provide issue assurance for audit findings.

- Leads company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements.

- Directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance with laws.

- Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations and Minimizes risk.

Delivery Excellence & Process Improvements:

- Identify and drive continuous improvements to the scope, performance and cost-to-serve of each team

- Lead initiatives to improve the end-to-end HR delivery processes

- Accountable for driving consistent, standardized and effective service delivery of HR processes

- Drive development, adjustment, monitoring and improvement of HR programs

Key Attributes:

- High internal standards and applies tough criteria to own deliverables for every task assigned

- Acumen and understanding of financials and ties HR activities to the bottom line, knowing what levers to pull to influence budgeting/ forecast etc.

- Knows when it's important to be able to act as a mature advisor and when to be a dependable worker by rolling up sleeves and executing a job assigned

- Understands HR to be both a service & a control function; doesn't see these as divergent (knows that credibility gained from service leads to the acceptance of control suggestions/actions)

- Must be creative, resourceful and a problem solver

- The position requires the individual to help the company comply with relevant regulations, issue identification, assessing the impact of regulatory changes and working with Corporate Function teams

- The idea is to maintain compliance with laws and regulations and protect the reputation of the company and each business unit.

Qualification & Skills:

- MBA-HR from a tier 1 institute with an overall experience of 8+ years

- Managing end to end people experience, conducting people engagement activities and handling employee grievances

- Excellent people management skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Thrive in a fast paced working environment

- Knowledge of relevant local and national labour laws, and statutory compliances.
