1. Scope of the role :
The role would be responsible for leading and managing media strategy and buying for all brands of TCL, key deliverables being to maximize media savings and impact for the company
2. Job Profile :
A) Agency management :
- Setting agency KRAs and deliverables
- Performance measurement, incentive decisions
- Ensuring team structure and adequate resources
B) Media Operations :
i. Planning :
- Work with various brand teams to evolve media strategy for each brand
- Benchmark processes with industry and improve the current processes
- Identifying the target audience for a particular media campaign and deciding how best to communicate to that audience
ii. Buying
- Leading the negotiations with media sales companies along with agency partners to obtain the best rates and most appropriate media spaces in media
- Innovations/ partnerships - strategic and tactical
- Liaising and building relationships with media sales companies and key vendors
- Opportunistic buys
- Deal management
iii. Reporting and reviews
Backend operations such as - brand post evals (monthly), channel performance evals and reconciliations (monthly), channel deal inventory tracking (monthly / quarterly), weekly GRP / program TVR reports, deal updates
Budgeting & ROI Analysis -
- Campaign effectiveness and improvement - Monthly/ Quarterly reviews of media plan performance
- Market Intelligence
- Billing reconciliation, spend reporting, budget control mechanisms
C) Process and audit :
- Setting up an effective internal process for media
- Working with IT to create an IT enabled approval and data dashboard interface
- Conduct regular media planning and buying audits with third party

4. The right person Strong communication, relationship and collaboration skills
- 5-7 years of media planning and buying experience
- To be up to date with industry research figures, including distribution figures (newspapers and magazines) and audience figures (TV and radio);
- A tough negotiator; Has led and monitored large buys
- Ability to stretch the rupee by looking beyond the obvious
- Ability to innovate with media choices
