Senior Business Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION- SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST

Job Summary –

- Strong foundation in the financial industry; in particular, the mutual fund business or the ability to quickly learn and apply concepts within this industry. Provide on demand and regularly scheduled reports using a variety of technology tools; including, but not limited to, Micro strategy/SAM, Business Objects, Microsoft – Excel; Access; Word and PowerPoint, SAS and Siebel.

- Also have a strong foundation in creating coding within databases, such as VBA. Ability to answer any questions with respect to those reports, run projects and meetings with participants up to senior management within and outside the organization.

- Prepare and present presentations to all levels of the organization; highlighting accomplishments, trends and opportunities for the front line wholesalers.

- Demonstrate the ability to partner with various divisions within the organization, including, but not limited to, U.S. Advisor Services, Sales Management, Project Teams, Technology, Marketing, Sales Support Services and the Sales Reporting Team while building a relationship to help meet the sales mission.

- Display the ability to create and streamline processes and reports related to projects assigned. Become a mentor for other team members. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, are required

- Reports are provided to internal customers, such as wholesalers and senior sales management and external customers, such as broker dealers and financial advisors. These reports are used to measure a particular success of a fund, firm, financial advisor, product, territory or wholesaler. Decisions are made by our customers based on information contained within a report.

- Additionally, the Senior Sales Reporting Analyst will be expected to look for opportunities to empower the wholesaling team and senior sales management with information on a particular focus/campaign, fund, firm, financial advisor or territory that will increase sales.

Reporting and Subject Matter Expertise - 25-75%

- Develop and provide routine and non-routine reports of complex scope using multiple reporting systems

- Ability to answer any questions with respect to those reports, run projects and meetings with participants up to senior management within and outside the organization.

- Provide analytical commentary and recommendations for change

- Provide subject matter expertise on assigned systems, reports and projects

- Assume the role of technical expert responsible for developing and guiding more junior team members

- Act as business unit liaison with other business units

- Create and streamline processes and reports related to projects assigned.

Research, recommend and implement workflow efficiencies: 25-75%

- Research and document complex business issues involving workflow, trade-related data, database items, procedures and processes. Work with other areas within organization; for example, FTT, to resolve issue

- Gather comprehensive information to be used in problem identification and resolution. Work with senior members within the organization

- Analyze data and develop creative solutions. Ability to provide ongoing updates via written and verbal communications

- Develop user test plans and testing to validate system enhancements and other business requirement documents and specifications

- Develop new procedure documentation in support of new process, products or system enhancements

- Coordinate recommended process changes and enhancements including test plans to ensure successful implementation

- Discuss proposed system enhancements and modifications with information technology staff

- Provide post-implementation support for all approved deliverables

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge:

- Have very good Knowledge in SAS programming ( MUST)

- Have an advanced understanding of the reporting research process and able to recommend and implement workflow.

- Develop and produce routine and non-routine reports intermediate to complex scope.

- Interpret reports, providing analytical commentary and recommendations for change.

- Provide subject matter expertise on assigned systems or focuses.

- Tests plans to validate system enhancements for other business unit requirements.

- Support new procedures while documenting new process, products or system enhancements that affect the team.

- Able to Identify and recommend staff training needs in response to process changes or new product/system implementations.

- Demonstrates an intermediate to advanced ability to perform mathematical calculations and analysis.

- Have the knowledge of working on SAS, Business Objects, Access and other report writers.

- Ability to communicate, written and verbal, to all levels within the organization.

Education and Experience:

- Engineer or PG in Math’s/ Stats, MCA, MBA (all preferably from premier institutes like IIT, IIM’s etc)

- 4-8 years of related experience

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

- None

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

- Financial Services experience, preferred

- Strong use of databases/technology skills

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Microsoft Office skills:

Advanced: Excel, Word, Access

Intermediate: PowerPoint, Visio, Project

Note: level of skill will vary by specific department/assignment

- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties

- Ability to maintain updated knowledge of procedures, products and activities of assigned area
