Technology Architect - Data Center/Infrastructure Solutions

Job Profile/Key Responsibilities

- Work on a Global Delivery model remotely to support clients in different Geographies.

- Design of infrastructure solutions to meet client's business and (or) technical requirements following standard processes and architecture methodologies.

- Work with Senior architects to develop technology plans and account directions on need basis.

- Engage with various lines of services (LoS), center of excellences (CoE) and third party vendors throughout the architecture design phase and lead the development of the technical solution.

- Work with Project Managers and LoS by providing architectural support for deployment of Infrastructure projects

- Documentation of architecture design to various levels of detail using the prescribed templates and standards.

- Solution presentations.

- Preparation of Bill of Materials for solution components.

- Work as an individual contributor.

- Design of information technology infrastructure solutions to meet client's business and (or) technical requirements following standard processes and architecture methodologies.

- Development of architecture for new infrastructure solutions along with market solutions team leveraging new technologies.

- Work with CxO level executives from client side and with on-site lead architects to develop technology plans and account directions on need basis.

- Engage with on-site vendors on a need basis. Degree and scope of engagement with vendors will depend on the project.

- Engage with various lines of services (LoS) and center of excellences (CoE) throughout the architecture design phase and lead the development of the technical solution.

- Handle multiple infrastructure technologies based on project requirements as part of the architecture design.

- Work with internal and external clients located in different time zones namely in Europe, North America and Asia.

- Documentation of architecture design to various levels of detail using the prescribed templates and standards.

- Client presentations.

- Work as an individual contributor.

Typical profile

Technology / Offerings Required & Desired:

- Active Directory / AD Federation

- Experience of multiple virtualization offerings (Hyper V, VMWARE, Cloud)

- BC, Backup and Recovery Solutions

- Exposure to Middleware and Application Solutions

- Desired (any mix of following):

- MS Clustering - AD, SQL, Etc

- Unix Exp: Linux / AIX / Solaris

- Security

- MS SCOM / SCORCH

Desired Skills

- Currently working as Infrastructure architects, Infrastructure Pre-sales consultants, Technical specialists and Design Engineers

- Overall 10 years- experience

- Minimum 7 years of experience in the area of IT infrastructure out of which at least two year in architecture or design.

- Relevant experience in one or more of following technology areas.

Mid-range servers

Storage and backup

Wintel & Virtualization technologies

Network & Security

- Flexible and adaptable to working in different time zones based on business needs.

- Good communication skills (Written and Oral).

- Good inter personal skills to manage clients / customers.

- The candidate should be aware and have good knowledge of project management and project lifecycle.

- Aptitude and desire to learn.

Midrange Server Experience in designing infrastructure solutions around IBM-AIX (P Series), Sun-Solaris, HP-UX servers, IBM iSeries servers with the ability to design high availability clusters and virtualization.

Network Operating Systems Experience in designing solutions around MS Windows Server technologies, Linux and virtualization.

Storage and Backup Experience in designing enterprise class storage network solutions around technologies like SAN, NAS, iSCSI and products from vendors like EMC, Hitachi and NetApp. Experience in designing backup solutions for heterogeneous server platforms

Network and Security Experience in designing enterprise class LAN (Campus LAN, Data Center LAN), WAN (VPN, MPLS) and network security (IPS, IDS, Firewalls, DMZ). Awareness of information security.

Systems Management Experience in designing solutions around enterprise class network and server management solutions such as Computer Associates Unicenter, HP Openview, and IBM Tivoli.

Databases Experience in designing infrastructure solutions for databases, D/R solutions around databases - Oracle, SQL, MySQL, DB2 etc.

ECM Optional - Knowledge on Enterprise Content Management technologies - IBM Filenet, EMC Documentum, MS SharePoint etc

The candidate should be a good practitioner in at least three or more of the above infrastructure categories with 3 or more years of experience and for the rest of the categories the person should be having an overall understanding.

- Expertise in Presales for Microsoft based solutions primarily Lync, SharePoint, Exchange, SCCM, Virtualization.

- Development of architecture & Design for new infrastructure solutions

- Should be able to differentiate / identify the features among various versions of Microsoft products

- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, Networking, SQL and IIS concepts.

- Experience in troubleshooting issues both at the client and server side.

- Experience of integration among the Microsoft solutions, and integration with other third party products.

- Should have experience in deployment or presales of the Microsoft based solutions primarily Link, SharePoint, Exchange, SCCM, Virtualization.

- Knowledge of sizing parameters

- Networking environment experience: DNS, DHCP, WINS, TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, FTP, VPN, SMTP, Firewalls, terminal services

- Understand and have worked with Internet-facing System Architecture

- Candidates with Hands on experience would be preferred

- The detailed development of solutions documentation specifically low level designs

- Development of low level / physical design for infrastructure solutions leveraging Microsoft technologies.

- Engage with on-site / local vendors on a need basis

- Documentation around knowledge management, scripting, packaging & SOE.

- Active participation on Proactive problem management & Release management

- Handle multiple Collaborations technologies based on project requirements

- Work with internal and external clients located in different time zones namely in Europe, North America and Asia.

- Engage with customer incumbent staff to gather/discover data for existing solution.

- Provide consulting on Microsoft products.

- Development of Quality of Service parameters

- Preparation of bill of materials for solutions developed.

- Contribution in solution development for up gradation and new products.

- For solution implementations which are project managed by the architect, ensure complete handover of the deployment to operations team following standard handover procedures.

- To assist Production Engineering/Operational Support with the development of handover documentation as specified by Production Engineering/Operations.

Secondary Skills:

- Understanding and architectural knowledge of Service Desk, Desktop Support Solution, MS Exchange, Lotus Notes, Antivirus, Blackberry, Asset Management and VDI including Electronic Desktop Management

Other Mandatory Skills

- Good communication skills (Written and Oral English).

- Good inter personal skills to manage clients / customers.

- Flexible and adaptable in meeting global delivery requirements.

- The candidate should be aware and have good knowledge of project management and Product lifecycle & architecture.
